Talk about your twilight baseball seasons the Rays just swept the Red Sox for the second time this season giving them a 3.5 game lead in the AL East,i've been closely watching this Tampa team all year (mainly due to me having James Shields and Scott Kazmir on my fantasy roster) but i really don't see how this team can not make the playoffs whether it's winning the division or the wild card this team is just too talented, they have probably the best all around pitching in baseball and their fielding is 97% and their bats are there when they need them,i suppose getting last so many times for so many years makes those high draft picks add up.

Also it that enough offense Hank talk about your bomber beating scoring 18 runs in a game the Yanks haven't got that many runs since against the Rays last July when they scored 21,how about that K-Rod scoring his 34th save of the season tying the record of John Smoltz in 2003 of most saves before the All-Star break.

Finally how about that NL West, now every team in that division is below .500 =\

So uh, Michael Barrett has really, really shitty luck.

What's with the Padres and having balls all up in their faces this season? Young, Barrett...

wtf Marlins-Rockies; that shit looked more like a Dolphins-Broncos game than a Marlins-Rockies game. Goddamn does Greg Reynolds ever suck; top prospect my ass.

Also, Jose Reyes needs to stop trying to fight fucking 54-year-old Keith Hernandez, stop being a little bitch, and he needs to instead focus on helping his team not suck so much.

Brad Lidge signed a $37.5 million, three-year extension with a club option that could make it worth $49 million over four years. Not a bad signing at all; this just leaves Burrell and Howard. What to do, what to do...

It looks like the next time C.C. Sabathia takes the mound he'll be donning a Milwaukee Brewers jersey.

The Brewers and the Cleveland Indians agreed to a deal for the reigning AL Cy Young on Sunday, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The newspaper reports the deal is contingent on paperwork being finished and the exchange of medical records.

Cleveland would get Double-A outfielder Matt LaPorta, who is hitting .288 with 20 homers and 66 RBIs in 84 games for Huntsville, and two other minor leaguers in return, according to the Journal Sentinel. The two other players do not include top prospects Alcides Escobar or Mat Gamel.

The Brewers wanted Sabathia on their pitching staff in time to get him two starts before the All-Star break, according to multiple media reports. Sabathia, who is 6-8 with a 3.83 ERA this season, could debut in Milwaukee against the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday.

Brewers general manager Doug Melvin told the Journal Sentinel on Saturday that a proposal was on table and he awaiting word from Indians GM Mark Shapiro.

"Mark said he'd be in touch with me," said Melvin. "I'm sure they've got to think through everything."

Laporta was scratched from Huntsville's lineup Sunday, another indication the deal was close.

Milwaukee has been considered the front-runner in the Sabathia sweepstakes. The Los Angeles Dodgers, Philadelphia Phillies and Tampa Bay Rays were among other teams vying for his services.

Even today I still don't get what the Mets saw in Victor Zambrano when they gift-wrapped Kazmir and gave him away to the D-Rays. One more thing, Defensewhere is an idiot.

Hell yes! As a Chi Sox fan, it'll be great for us to not have to see him again for a very long time. And what better place to put him then in the NL Central where he can face the Cubs and make their lives miserable?

This years selection is not that great IMO.

The stack of Red Sox on the AL doesn't seem right. Manny deserves a starting spot but not Youkilis and Pedroia. Morneau and Kinsler should have gotten those spots respectively. And of course we have Jeter getting votes for being an average SS when Michael Young deserved the starting spot more. Truthfully the starting lineup should be stacked with Rangers more than Red Sox. And lol for Varitek even making the team. Remember kids, the C is for Captain! And of course a few people who deserve to be in it are left out. Jermaine Dye can still get voted in to the last spot, but he shouldn't be in this position in the first place. He should be a lock for being on the team. Pitching wise, the roster is ok. A few people like Sonnanstine, who has 10 wins, should be on there. Dice K probably didn't make it because he was hampered by injuries.

Then there's the NL. Most of thier lineup is well deserved except for Soriano and Fukudome. Maybe Fukudome deserved a reserve spot, but not when it puts Matt Holliday in the reserves. Carlos Lee is also among those who are hoping for the last NL spot when he shouldn't even have to be worrying about it. Pitching wise, their ok, and I can't think of someone who should be on the list who isn't.

This year's Yankees team resembles the 2006 Giants, sabotaged by injuries in crucial spots and losing Wang (no pun intended) is the biggest blow. Just hope they can hold on however.

That could be a very interesting deal. C.C is quite a big guy and it will be interesting to see how he copes with running the bases if he gets on base at all as a Brewer. Maybe he'll shed a few pounds and bacome a more potent pitcher.

Of course, sometimes the loss of ballast can cause catastrophic failure in a pitcher's balance and therefore delivery. Certainly worth keeping an eye on.

As an indians fan, this was an ok trade, we got some top minor league prospects which we badly needed. But I will miss CC. ALthough I think he will be better in NL considering that is actually not a bad hitter.

Thanks for the memories CC

C.C. goes to Milwaukee then as we all know. Doesn't surprise me as they were hyped as the front-runner, and he gets to stay in the Mid-west.

Anywho, Phils lost another one last night and now have lost 3 straight; to the Mets no less. They're still in 1st, but it's now a 1.5 game lead, and tenuous at best. So here's my bold statement: The Phils WON'T win the NL East.
Now you might ask "Philee, why do you say that? They're still leading the division and have a super line-up." That may be true, but they're starting to come unglued.
Their hitting has been super erratic and seems to come in all-or-nothing efforts. Days where they have "all" their pitching subsequently stinks (i.e. last night). And when their pitching gives a good performance, their bats have "nothing" (i.e. 2 nights ago). And what makes matters worse is that this is happening against teams that are either good in general (their AL inter-league opponents), or teams that are good on paper and may be coming around (the aforementioned Mets).

I promise I'm done with the parentheses

So they need to get their act together so I can be proven wrong.

BONUS BOLD STATEMENT: Chase Utley WON'T win the HR Derby. Okay, that may not be such a bold statement, as there will be 7 other guys who can hit the ball out of the park quite well. Utley himself isn't a natural power hitter, he just makes good contact. Here he will be trying to crush the ball, and I don't see it happening for him. My early pick is Lance Berkman.

And the Cubbies counteract the Sabathia deal by getting Rich Harden from the A's.

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Cubs have acquired pitcher Rich Harden from the Oakland Athletics in a six-player trade, a day after the rival Milwaukee Brewers landed CC Sabathia.

The Cubs will receive the right-handed Harden and righty Chad Gaudin for pitcher Sean Gallagher, outfielders Matt Murton and Eric Patterson, and minor leaguer John Donaldson.

Harden, scheduled to be a free agent after the 2009 season, is 5-1 with a 2.34 ERA in 13 starts this season.

The oft-injured righty missed a month earlier this season because of a right shoulder strain. It was his sixth trip to the disabled list in his six-year career.

Damn, with Harden that's the most stacked starting rotation for a team this year. Of course it depends on if Harden can stay healthy which he has not been doing a very good job of over the years, but so far so good.

Also, fuck you Cubs nation.

Thank the lord almighty though this really wasn't made just cause of the C.C deal this was getting worked on the past few weeks but you know the trigger was pulled quickly due to the C.C trade,my god i don't see how any other NL team could match up to this Cub pitching lineup with Zambrano,Dempster,Harden and Lilly (Lilly would be a decent #2 starter on a lot of teams) and we even got a nice reliever in Chad Gaudin, this deal has made my day and now i wonder what the Cardnials will do in the trade market.

Yeah seriously. What is it with ESPN's boner over Randy Wolf? They say he's a pitcher that every team looking for a pitcher is supposedly considering, but the teams themselves don't show any indication that they're interested in him.

They're like Daily News, they made a misleading article about Strahan asking for 8 mill. shortly before his retirement but if you read the article, there's no mention of Strahan himself asking for 8 mill. but yet some people believed it.

Difference is that RSPN made speculation by saying it while Daily News made theirs with misleading article title.
