Apparently you cannot either. You seem to also struggle with "proud."

pwned

Anyway, I'm hoping that the Yanks can get themselves back tonight against the Mariners. Erik Bedard (2-0, 2.04) would be a worthy candidate to do this against, as he's shown much promise following his big money move from the Orioles. He's matched up against the Ace of the Yanks lineup so far this year, Chien-Ming Wang (5-0, 3.23)

If the bats show up tonight, they might be surprised to see that Wang is learnign how to strike batters out, even though he only has more Ks than Beddard due to his more starts than the Mariner's hurler.

I'll be in to keep tabs on this one tonight. I can't stand the fact that all of my teams went on a horrible tear while I was away. Hopefully that will be turned around now.

Yeah, I'm not buying one or anything, I just grabbed a free print-out off the internet. As for enjoying the game, I'm sure I still will, but like I said before, chances are I won't be able to finish it due to possible distractions. Still I'll give it a good try.

You want to talk about expensive? The Yankees have just been jacking up the prices more and more this year. I was at the Detroit-Yanks game the other night when Polanco hit 2 HRs, and as I walked around to find something to munch on (to no avail, given the prices), I saw the following:

Soda - $5 for a regular, $6 for a large
Pizza - $5 a slice
Pretzel - $4
Hamburger/Cheeseburger - $7.50
Beer - $8.50

We sat up in the loge, and it went up $5 for that section alone, which we had last year (same seats). You wanna sit down the 1st or 3rd base line, about 15-20 rows back? $280 a ticket. Want seats on top of the dugout, or seats behind home plate? $400 a game. Four hundred. Other than the Crown Seats at Kauffman, which is still $170 less than the best seats at Yankee Stadium, all seats are $45 or less. At Yankee Stadium, $45 will get you the nosebleed seats. Tickets at Citizen's Bank Park are $15-50. Busch Stadium tops out at $120 for the best seats.

Hell, I can't even go to a Yankee game and score the game anymore...it's ~10 dollars for a scorecard booklet/magazine. Ridiculous highway robbery that they can get away with.

I can't WAIT until I get my license next month; I'm going down to CBP to see as many games as I can, I love it there. I'm targeting the Mets series on July 5th, 6th, and 7th, the D'Backs series from the 11th to the 13th, the Pittsburgh series from August 8th to the 10th, the series with the Brewers on September 13th, and the season-ending series with Washington on September 26th to the 28th.

Those crab fries are pretty badass too.

That's exactly why I go to more games at Kauffman than Busch every year, especially for the Cards-Royals series. One of the best games I ever saw was at Kauffman, Cards vs Royals... 15-10, grand slam followed by a solo shot, and bench clearing brawl all in the same inning hahaha. Kauffman doesn't have a bad seat in the place and it's really a nice stadium, not to mention the cheapest seats in the majors. The new Busch is very nice as well...last year I had seats five rows behind the Cards dugout for $60. I miss the old Busch still though...can't beat a circle stadium for noise or the wave haha...was hot as hell in August though.

Also rofl @ Pinella pulling his starting pitcher in the first inning.

I tend to like it there too. Perhaps we'll unknowingly run into each other. Still, the prices are going up around here too. $6.50 for a beer, but sub $5 for a bottled soda.

I'm targeting the Mets series (and others)...

You know they're a weakness of mine too. Just a word to the wise, make sure you get there early for them. It once almost cost me 2 full innings standing in line for them.

Anyway... what a fricken' game. Chase Utley continues to produce, while Howard continues to slump. This was Aaron Rowand's first game back in Philly after his signing with the Giants, and it was nice as the crowd gave him a standing ovation and he acknowledged it by tipping his cap.

As for the game the Phils can only seem to produce runs with the longball (Utley hit his 12, a 2 run shot. Feliz gave a 2 run shot of his own), and starter Kyle Kendrick seemed to have the game in hand giving up only 1 run 'til the 7th, in which the Giants tied it. The bullpen on both teams held their ground, and we went to extras. J.C. Romero took the mound for the Phils in the 10th, facing a first batter in Aaron Rowand, who subsequently took his first pitch deep. So the Phils go to the bottom of the 10th down 1. Utley gets a single, Howard Ks for the 3rd time this game, and is ejected for arguing balls and strikes. So with 2 outs and 1 on, down by 1... here comes Pat Burrell. He takes the count to 3-2... then BAM! Walk-off game winning homerun. Crazy fun.

My scorecard. I've got the Giants batters on the opposite side of the paper. As you can see, there are plenty of stats I have yet to fill in, but I made it up to the best part.

Love the emphasis on Pat Burrell's Homer :P

Yankees get a win for Moose of the bat of Johnny Damon. Darrell Rasner makes his return to the Majors tonight in place of Phil Hughes, so that could be an interesting move, considering how tough a time Hughes has had, compared to the way that Joba came up last season and stole PH's thunder.

Cards won last night, 5-3, take 2 out of 3 from the Cubs, and now lead the division by 1.5 games. Now the Cards hit the road, as they have played the most games at home this season in the majors. Time to show all of the lamer sports writers that they are actually legit.

Untrue; several of Wood's blown saves have been because of mishandled plays on the ball, not his pitching.

I feel so sorry for you because you will never see the Cubs winning a WS in your life time.

It's funny because just four years ago they were saying the same thing about Red Sox Nation. I feel bad for you because you're too idiotic to recognize that fact.

So yeah, Ryan Howard has just reached 50 Ks for the season so far. He's been a slow starter for his career so far, but man's in one hell of a slump and is striking out like that's what they pay him to do. I've done the arithmetic and if he keeps this pace, he'll have 231 Ks by season's end, shattering his record he set last year by 32.
Personally, I think pitchers have caught on to him and Howard just won't mentally make the adjustment as a hitter. Of the at-bats I've seen so far this year, it looks like the pitchers have caught a trend in that Howard doesn't swing at the first pitch, and invariably it's a strike down the middle. But he will swing at the 2nd pitch which is most often something with movement low and away. Perhaps a slider or change. Now he's in a 0-2 hole and all bets are off, and in his attempts to beat the shift he usually swings at something he shouldn't or is frozen on a borderline pitch. I can only hope he comes around soon.

As for Gavin Floyd's recent attempts at No-hitters. Well, he went 7 1/3 earlier, and in his last start he went 8 1/3 without surrendering a hit. So does the trend say that in the near future he'll end up with a no-hitter, well yes the trend does say that, but don't bet on it. He's pitched well recently, but due to the fact he was wild in Philadelphia (and if the Phillies don't want you and you're a pitcher, that's saying something) and no-hitters are so hard to come by, I doubt he'll make any more attempts.

Sounds like a simple adjustment, to even the balance up a bit - start swinging at the first pitch and creaming some long balls over the fences :P

If only baseball were that simple :P

I'm thinking the same way, unfortunately Howard isn't. I'm guessing he's thinking that as a hitter he shouldn't swing at the first pitch, which is a principle that I also agree with, except in this instance. Unfortunately he isn't seeing the ball too well, and most often for him the first pitch is the best he usually sees each at-bat. He needs to start swinging earlier, if only to hit the ball into a hard out. Have the pitchers think again about throwing him a meatball once he steps in the box.

If only baseball were that simple :P

If it were, I'd be the manager, you'd be the GM, Buddhist would be the President, and DoD would be the Mascot.

But guess what? You still whine like a madman even though they've won those titles. I'd enjoy being a fan of the defending WS champions in the season following their victory, and I'd take a less serious attitude for their shortcomings. Although by no means does that mean giving a free pass for blunders.

I cannot recall when the Phillies won the WS for the last time...

That would be 1980

P.S; Adam Eaton...lol, do you really think that he can deliever in the postseason?

No, but he's not meant to either. He's just a regular season starter who is supposed to eat innings and keep the team relatively in the game long enough for the bats to come around and give the 'pen a rest. When the Phils made the playoffs last year, they went with 4 starters for the rotation. Guess who they left out... Eaton.

If I may interject with the following as a follow-up:

Career Postseason Stats, Boston Bullpen:

Julian Tavarez: 3.54 ERA
Mike Timlin: 3.94 ERA (although well north of 5.00 since 2003)
Dice-K: 5.03 ERA
Tim Wakefield: 6.36 ERA
Manny Delcarmen: 8.31 ERA
Javier Lopez: 15.43 ERA

"lol, do you really think that he can deliever in the postseason?"

On another subject, I came across some odd statistical anomalies from this season...where has all the AL gone?

- The top five MLB leaders in batting average are all in the National League, as are 7 of the top 10.

- The top five MLB leaders in home runs are all in the NL, as are 7 of the top 10. Fourteen players in the NL have at least 7 or more homers, compared to a mere 4 players in the AL.

- The top eight leaders in OBP are all in the NL.

- All ten qualified players in the majors with an OPS over 1.000 are in the National League (and that is not even counting non-qualified Micah Owings). In fact, the AL only has 11 players with an OPS that is even over .900, compared to 23 in the National League.

and Brandon Webb is still raping the life out of teams. :[

Tararez and Timlin suck, that is why they are long relievers. Dice K has been great this year, we will see if he can keep it up. You are right about Delcarmen, we need a 7th inning guy. With the way Aadarsma (spell?) is pitching, maybe he can be our 7th inning guy.
lol, Gordon's ERA is still way above 4.00. P.S: it will not take long before Brad Lidge start sucking again.
