Some people I know, think the BBS is already boring. To bad, I think it's still fun. But there are some n00bs who spoil it. But we have the moderators for that. And then the portal. The portal has some crap things, but there are enough submissions that are very good. And who is telling you that there will be only n00bs, visiting after played AH? That's bullshit! I won't doubt about that there will be some n00bs, but there will be enough good new users. That's for sure.

Discuss this!

I may be lvl2, but I have been a loyal viewer to Newgrounds way before the Portal... I have seen this site go through ups and downs and it will most likely survive.

I think it depends on how well the Alien Hominid game goes. If it reaches a wide audience then sure this website could get flooded with n00bs. But I don't know if they will be "children". The game is pretty violent, compared to games like Crash bandicoot and stuff, so it'll probably have a teen ERSB rating. But they will be n00bs nevertheless...
They should put a big spanking button on the homepage saying something like "Are you a newbie? Click here!" When you click on it it goes to the literature page or something. That'll get rid of these crappy "what's a flash?" threads and crap, providing they're smart enough to click on it.

This site will be fine regardless. I read the history of Newgrounds, I saw that Tom had a tempting offer to sell Newgrounds but didnt. He craes about this site. And about the fewer porn ads etc. He wanted to do that anyway. Flood of n00bies? I'm a n00b at this site (signed up on the 8th), but I try to be a valuable member of the NG community. I think a lot of people with my mentality are going to come- as the majority of people who would go to a link in a game are loyal. I dont think it will be the end of Newgrounds, I look at it as a new beginning, with a flood of new talent and ideas.

That you are on level 2 doesn't mean your a n00b. See _Luis_, he is at level 1 and he is a respected artist here.

It depends on the advertising campaign i guess as to the sucess of the game. It my just fade away if it's not properly marketed, but if it is, you run the risk Vid Mags doing full articles about it, and eventually NG's name will be dropped. Millions read vid mags and i don't even rent anymore unless a game gets a good review in Electronic Gaming Monthly, GamePro, or Nintendo Power.

That'll get rid of these crappy "what's a flash?" threads and crap, providing they're smart enough to click on it.

Yeah, nothing more irritating that having to answer, "Can i may cartoons in Paint?". >:( Sometimes i just wanna say, do a g*d d*mn search, but they'd probably wouldn't know where it is. Not all newbs are so dense, but some come right out of the kindergarden to try to match wits with the big boys (and gals, :p) and it's annoying.

Maybe using of the BBS can be a level 9 "Secret" in the future. That would solve a few problems i think. Just an idea.

I just figured since many people label noobs as lvl1 around here that I had a very noobish demeanor.

What made you feel the need to join with in the last two days?
I don't believe when people say that. It just doesn't add up that they would take all this time to join if they are so "loyal".

I was not a flash artist nor had any interest in becomming one... I would just come here to play Telebubbies Fun Land or watch something like "You're a raging psychopatch Snarlie Brown".

To be exact... The first game I ever remember playing here was the Pikachu tamagotchi thing back in 98 or so when Pokemon was big.

But... you don't have to believe me...

I don't think whether or not you sign up indicates loyalty. It just means that if you choose to sign up, you want to make a difference in the community.

I do now!
No n00b would be able to know of those things!
Heck, I didn't even know about the Pokemon one you just talked about.
My oldest account dates back to late october 2002.
I would never do much on it other then play game after game, when I made this account a year later, I used my old one as an alt.
My old one was called "Jrgly_Mrgly". Haha, I don't talk much about it though, it may have been here first but this is the account I look at as my real one!

I think this is being blown out of proportion. I dont think there will be very many AH topics, rather the ones made may never go away, as all the fans will post in them. Its not like these boards are exactly 'spam-free'...

They could make a warning on the page before the bbs or so, "Coarse language inside, do not enter if you are offended easily, problem solved, I wish :(

Your right about the flood of noobs, if you start AH up all the time and the first screen you see is an NG logo, your likely to go to the site, oh well, they wont be all asholes and some could be cool :/

I dont think censorship will be a problem, this is the internet after all. They dont exactly have an FCC breathing down their neck. And the only reason the ESRB is here is because of copywrite laws. The internet is a very free place. Newgrounds doesnt have to change anything.

That is the worst idea ever.
Not everyone wants to gain levels, and not everyone knows how!
Crimson_Edge, a well known Newgrounds member, is still a level 1, he has the right to not want to get to a higher level in order to post.

Good point. But you really think many people will go to NG after playing this game? But it depends on how much he advertises in the game. I don't thing there will be that much n00bs, becouse most true asshole-bitching-n00bs leave as fast as they come.

Why do low levels always say this?
