How ironic. California needs Oregon more than we need them.
I'd plead with local militia that it's finally our time to strike California and free the North from the South. Afterwards, we will become a nuclear-armed power after having warheads generously donated to us by Russia and then hold Los Angeles under the iron fist of environmentalism where they'll be forced to wrap their mouths around exhaust manifolds for one hour each day.
Ahh, dreams, dreams.

I'll donate a V8 that gets like 5 mpg :P Good post by the way. It's good to see someone on here who doesn't jump on you for the slightest thing. Funny thing is I think you should take NY too. BTW to the person that said I'd appeal to the liberals here... What military action could you take? Don't you people hate guns? and in turn if the left suceeds in banning them... How would we fight back?

The average percent of the population it requires to overthrow a government is 2%. Before you scoff that, imagine a solid 5000000 people (2% of 250 million) actively trying to bring the government down. I think if the government was acting that oppresively, it wouldn't be hard to scrounge up at least that many nationwide.
Think you're pretty clever...

I have one word to respond to that: Bush.
Also someone mentioned that being an excuse to rewrite the American lawas and start all over...the basis of our lawas DOES include a statement saying any time a majority of American citizens feel the government needs reformed it should be. The founding fathers thought ahead on that one, or maybe they were just sick of such rigid governments...

I'd probably assassinate that president and take over his tyranny reign and then force all Americans to go to war with the whole North and South America, then we would take over both continents and call it The United Tyrants Federation and then we would allie ourselves with China, Russia, and Germany and take out the rest of the world and then i'd probably call over the leaders of each country over to the UTF and we'd play billiards until I got bored and shot them both in the head, and became the ruler of the world, MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, that's what I would do hypothetically of course.

You know there are think tanks that work out scenarios like this all the time. So a worst case outcome must be unlikely

Do you know exactly how long it would take to get a majority to agree on something like that even if it was set in gray terms?

senerio 2: my state would probobly break off from the union and create its own country (Alaska)

To end all confusion, the senario is impossible.
why? Because every bill starts in the House of represenatives, gets voted on by 2/3, goes to 2/3 of the senate, and goes to be signed by president. Presidents can really only get laws created by using thier influence on members of the House of Represenatives or Senate. The president has no executive powers. The people would not vote for any Congressional member who would support such a bill, and thus the bill will never be created.

Impossible? I disagree. Again, look at the way things have been shaping up ad the various peoples opinions, esp about the possiblity of creating a martial law situation and Hitler.

It is completely within the realm of possibility, it just isn't probable.

Martial law can only be declaired when there is massive uprisings or an emergency. I think people know when either one occures.

Exactly. Come up with a plan for US domination, create an "emergency" thatscares people, leak information etc. Look at some of the threads on other sites concerning the conspiracey that Bush planned 9/11.

Skipping replies, answering original question...
It's really a "what if" with no chance of it happening (so blatantly at least), but I'd keep in contact with friends who also wouldn't be liking the situation, and see what happens. Worst case, try to get to Canada.
The one thing force produces is resistance.

My dad is really big on that, well, he used to be until I shot down all of that stuff. The basic theory is definately a recipe for a takeover, I'll give em that, I just don't believe that the elements have been in place for this to be going on right now, but I don't want to get into all of that again.

I do not mean now but I believe it is probably but not possible. Can anyone think of a situation that would work like that? If we can be smart enough to build all the things we do toady I think someone could be smart enough to pull the wool over our eyes.

Hitler burning the Reichstag and then blaming it on the Jews. It helped him a lot. And you forget that people have been pulling the wool over our eyes for a lot of things even today. There is a lot of stuff going on that the average person will never know about and on the one hand, it's bad and it's definately on the shady side of legal, but then again, if we knew completely what our government did and exactly how it operated, many important things wouldn't get done. Politics is the art of compromise and the art of hiding the fact that something got compromised. It's the way things run and don't be naive enough to think that any government, any president is on a high enough moral ground to do some shady things.

For a fact-checker, you are not very thorough... HR 3162 - the Patriot Act, is only 131 Pages long, including a lot of title pages and indexes. Its easily read within an hour, but I would reccommend taking longer.
Damn. Playing hardball....

I think the topic has come full circle. In any case, there is clearly no such plan in action now
