Reiper, with the middle east notorious for pulling us and others into conflict, how would you resolve the situation we are in now?

Our current situation in Iraq?
I don't think that there is a simple solution to Iraq right now. We have to stick through the troubles we are going thru now. Just in my opinion we need to stay out of other conflicts at least until Afganistan and Iraq are stable enough to support itself.
I was just stating that we don't need to be going after every other nation that we dont' agree with, or that does human rights violations itself, because we do them too.

If we would go around, haphazardly policing the world according to your rules, no one in their right mind would stand for it. Iraq is a perfect example. The backlash has been so enormous that Bush wouldn't dare try pulling a stunt like that again.
The last time we invade cuba we almost started a nuclear war.
That kind of thing frightens even the most hardcore warmonger.

Do you actually want to see what would happen if we went after North Korea next? They have nukes, while they may not hit the US, or the US soldiers, they can cripple the economies of other countries though by nuking Tokyo.
Most Americans don't care about North Korea, because they see no immediate backlash, or danger from Korea. But I don't think Americans have any clue what Nuking tokyo means.
One nuke in tokyo and a population greater than that of the state of California, will disappear. Thes 33million+ people. If 33 milion Americans were to die in one moment it would be like 1 in every 8 Americans were gone. Though they are not Americans, they are still people, and that is a staggering amount of human loss. Maybe if the average American knew that they might care more about North Korea.

Exactly - that is so last year - it has to have "Michael Moore" or "Farenheit 9/11" (and varied appalling spellings of) in it.
tell me, why did no-one else even bother to mention the alleged handover before? It's news and has plenty of scope for conspiracy theories, so surely had to be a viable topic? We did! I wrote one about the 'upcoming' transfer on, I think, the 27th, and Reiper(right?) made one on the 28th after it was "handed over"!
Still, I get the medal for use of sarcasm. God, why are they a sovreign state, according to all the press coverage? To make them feel good as all the hacks climb over each other, probably crushing a few underfoot, to get footage of Saddam's show trial?
And, if anyone has been following Milosevic's for the past few months, you'd know that'll be a farce and nothing else. Even his introduction, saying hje was the true president of Iraq and Bush should be the one facing trial, echoed events in The Hague. So there go my hopes for a War Crimes trial for Maggie Thatcher, then...
Besides, three topics? How many topics in the past 18 months have been bagging on al-Jazeera, Michael Moore's Oscar acceptance speech, or Anti-War protests and/or parties? I haven't seen anything so lopsided since The Poseidon Adventure...
Propaganda is to a Democracy what violence is to a Dictatorship
Never underestimate the significance of "significant."

I didin't know the population of Japan was that large, or Tokyo itself. I don't think that the amount of life lost would hit the American people too hard though, no one ever remembers what happened between Rhwanda and Congo a few years back <know Congo was one part, pretty sure Rhwanda was the second but could be wrong on that>, but when their precious Japenese items are no longer comming in, their new PS2 games aren't comming in, not to mention the horrible economic effects accross the globe, that would catch the public's eye.

Umm, no we didn't. You should read a history book.
