well anyone can really make an idependent movie and get media attention if you know the right people. about santorum and state politics the state of PA is like on crack... i just donn't know whats wrong with our state. we have a gov who gets away with murder with stuff that he has done in the past that no one has ever heard about before if you did not grow up in the philly area. my best friend's dad grew up with Rendell and they absolutely hate eachother. Rendell gets prank called by him all the time and Rendell always knows that its him calling...and also Rendell does have a penthouse apt well a whole entire floor dedicated to all the women he sleeps with behind his wife's back. I know that from my one friend who works for the National and State Democrat Committie and he got a top political job from Rendell because of how his standing with the Democrat Party...Now more about Moore...yes doing a movie is doing something but just to whine about stuff and the movie is actually not really a true documentary....Hell I had to make one for my one American Studies Class about the Civil War specifically the Battle of Gettysburg. When you do a true documentary about a topic you do not do what he did...putting music like he did is not part of a true documentary about war maybe a documentary about music but not war....also i really do not care about paragraphs....i already have to do all that grammar crap for all my business classes in college and for typing up grants for doctors at my place of work...sorry

the only reason why he won that film festival is because it was loaded with anti-americans from all over europe what do you expect? also that's the same film festival where Kerry's one daughter wore a see-through dress and acted like she didnt know it was see through...can you say "tacky"?

Here's my final thought about this movie. I went to go see it and I did not like it at all... And to me people who do not live in the US really do not understand about the US... most of them just seem envious of the country because they is always viewed as a wealthy country where everyone is rich and has money to do anything... I know that because of talking to people who study abroad over to the US at my college PSU... I am amazed by what they think of this country... It is a true fact that we are still a Puritian country like we were when the pilgrims came to this land. that is why we do not have the same type of commericals like there is all over europe for example nudity and such... To be honest when I was younger I used to like Moore to think about it but now since I have matured and graduating college finally in Dec and then taking my GRE's for grad school I cannot stand the guy... If he truly does not like the US why doesn't he move to another country ... same goes with Cher and all the other idiots from Hollywood that said that they would move to Canada or else where if Bush became pres in 2000.

Damm, I saw that on coming by a mile. Thats not an excuse. A judge dosen't vote with his heart, he votes on very specific criteria wich have alot to do with quality, not propaganda.

well here in the US the judge might jugde by his heart... I know that because I know a lot of them because in the state of PA they are voted in not appointed....which I find to be backwards... there are some judges in my county that I would defintely not want to be on trial with..... it would be nice to believe that they would judge upon evidence but life is not fair and so not all judges go by evidence...

hey just wait they want to ban smoking in all public places and places of work in the state of PA...just wait they'll also start prohibition again... everything is done on emotion is this country which is just plain dumb... i cannot stand MADD those people who are in that organization just seem to be people who just don't want people to have fun because of things that have happened to them becuase of drunk driving.... i have to deal with those people in my area everyday..... i just don't understand why is this country you have to worry about just having one beer at the bar can land you with a DUI and then shit hits the fan and you have to go to classes about drinking and driving and losing your license for a year....

who judges at that film festival anyways? I know that the screen actors guild votes for the SAG awards but then again its their awards anyways... i couldn't believe my friend who's in it and has a production comany had me help vote on people becuase he didn't know who a lot of them were since he never saw their movies but I did....I hope to god that does not happen with any other film awards because that would piss me off like you wouldn't believe and you defintely do not want to see a hungarian/polish girl angry....

hbgcompgeekgirl, you are confusing the hell out of me. First of all, how do you have so many connections? I could mention the most obscure things and you'd still know someone who's involved in it.
Second, since when is a documentry not a documentry because it has music, I have never seen a documentry without music.
Third, if this is a puritin country, than the middle east is hundreds of years ahead of us in technology, and we're second on the food chain to dinosaurs.
Fourth, How in hell are all the problems with the state because of MADD. Is drunk driving a good thing? You can go to Louisiana if you want to avoid that, just no low-riders.
Fifth, as long as we're still the only state in the NE with rednecks. They're never gonna pass a public smoking ban.
Sixth, 3rd, 4th and 5th aren't relevent at all.
Seventh, How do you know what people in Europe are thinking? I mean knowing people nation-wide doesn't really do anything for you internationally. (They hate us cause we're arrogant)
Eighth, you said he should go out and do something instead of complaining. He has made a movie that has inspired huge controversy and a second look at the Bush administration, that now everyone is aware of. That's really doing something. Our pissant arguing is not.
So I relize this is harsh you have not stated a single good point in all your long paragraphless posts.

This is certainly touchy issue. I haven't seen the movie, but apperently it sells, considering it's the first documentary to pass $100,000. It'll probably get an Oscar for best documentary, just because politics is a hot subject. I'm curious if this movie would be as popular as it is if it wasn't an election year...
Did anyone see that movie Moore Made Canadian Bacon? That was a funny movie.

God, what's the point, exactly?
Between fat jokes (because they always seem to win debates, don't they?), you whine that he just arranges film clips to make Bush look bad (of course, the fact that Bush didn't exactly cover himself in glory helped, didn't it?) and he only won Cannes because it's full of Anti Americans (or French people, as they're usually known).
And you say he's whiny? I'd laugh at you, but the joke is fucking old and past its sell-by date.
Propaganda is to a Democracy what violence is to a Dictatorship
Never underestimate the significance of "significant."

You know, of all the judges at the Cannes film festival, 2 were French. Only 2.
Four were Americans.
Thats 2:1 American to French... yet it was a unanimous vote for the win.

I believe that most to all of what is in 9/11 was true. it is hard to believe the situation got this bad, but if you doubt what you see in the movie, then prove what you see wrong. Do the research and try to prove it false. I do not associate myself with ANY political group. I think they are all full of it. We need something new to believe in because this crap is not working.

Moore's whole point in making movies like 9/11 and bowling for Columbine is to go in, light the controversial powder keg, and watch the fire show. If someone has a issue with his movie, than I would like to see them make one showcasing the opposite side. A movie full of facts, not just anger.

just saw this thread. So now that the conservatives know that they can't debunk his facts, they try to ban the movie!? This is sick. A clear example of american conservatisim. The fact that Moore used true facts to back up his partisin views, doesn't detract from the truth of the facts. I saw the movie, and its really good. Go buy it. And then get Outfoxed, shows just how bad the Conservative media is.

If you want to go just to see what its like or simply to yell at the screen, dont!!!
If you goto the movie you are just putting more money in his socialist pocket, makeing him believe that his films are good and that he should continue to bend the truth to hiw own whims, please all stand with me and ban 9/11.
OMG, I can't believe this...Moore isn't telling something new, the whole wide world knows it ! I still can't believe that their are people, (even Americans!), who didn't heard the things Moore is telling... That's a little bit America: it's the so called Land Of The Free with Justice For All, but they don't know what is really gonig on in their country... I don't blame the Americans for this, ofcourse not, but i blame the goverment, the ones that really rule America...

Americans specificaly do not know is going on. The (American) news is busy trying to get the ratings from death, violence, and war. I think things are going badly in Iraq, but I also think many US soldiers and Iraqis are making things better. You would never know that from the news. Moore is showing many items that unless you went digging, you would never know about.
I never knew that the Bin Laden family was allowed to leave the US without questioning only days after 9/11.

Many of the things in the documentary, the average American wouldn't know. That isn't saying much, i know, but still.
