Hi everyone,

FIVE NIGHTS WITH BABIES. ALONE IN THE BARF [devlog]

Description

The game is created for the Construct 3 Game Jam. Theme is "Good Things Come in Threes". FNWB is a pixel art game, with chiptune musics. The gameplay is a Simulation / Arcade style. The goal of the game is to manage triplets.

Pitch

You're the father of triplets. Life was happiness, until your wife announced she won't be at home for five nights. Five nights alone with the triplets.

Hope it goes well! I always wanted to make a "Robot Babysitter" game but I pictured it as a 3D physics-driven game where it's really easy to accidentally kill the baby you are babysitting... Like if you grab it by the head and swing it around too quickly.


Nightmare Cops, the game JohnnyUtah, Spazkid and I have been working on.

Cool, looking good. The triplets look like they have very different personalities with their different hair styles, perhaps good to have different AI, speed, aggressiveness, etc,?

Yeah you got it, goal is too have different behaviours for each baby, ponderated with global mood of the three ones (if one is over excited, the others will follow the mood)

To be honnest I don't think I will be able to finish this behaviour stuff for sunday (I'm focusing on the global mood) but I will definitly do it just after.

I'm playing with Z layering, it's not perfect but I'm having fun.

I recommend either ditching the pixel art or rigidly sticking to it. You character designs and backgrounds are good but the aliased pixel edges are really fucking with my eyes and everything is slightly transparent and blurry, so just try straight up high rez vector art. If you really REALLY want pixel art than don't use non-integer positioning, aliasing or rotating clock hands. It's the difference between this and this
