I don't want to kill. The thought of taking another life makes me uneasy. I would definitely stop them by any means, though.

No. While there are dangerous ones that I can agree with, it's never worth killing them. Sure, you can protect your family, or kids if you have any. But what about after? You would just be killing one out of the millions that roam about, and you would be charged for murder. And if you get a life sentence, who's going to protect your kid now?
Define protect in this situation.
If he approached with a weapon and was threatening in some manner, yes of course; but if he's just in the area, i'd just make sure he knows to stay away and not bother us.

I will not premeditate such a thing. I would only do so in self-defence / defence of others, especially if the paedophile in question risks killing someone I love, or even just someone on the street.
