Need advice for 8bit/chipstep music

Hey, I want to make 8bit music. I am an experienced piano player, but I have never tried to make music with a computer since last week.
-I use famitracker, is it a good program or should I use another one? Could you tell me any other free good program?
-What things should I know about composing music with a computer and specifically 8bit music?
-I have made 3 songs (I'm not sure if they are well), could you tell me what to improve?

It is a bit weird for me because I have always played music made with instruments, but I hope I can get used to it.

Famitracker is pretty solid as is milkytracker(so i hear) I have used famitracker in the past but now I mostly use fl 12 with a couple of vsts like magical 8bit and minibit. It really depends on if you just want to make strictly 8bit or if you want the flexibility and power of a daw and still make 8bit but without quite the same authenticity. Although some vsts sound pretty close.

I think I want to make strictly 8bit, I will use famitracker. Btw I have never heard about milkytracker, I'll check it. Thank you.

Respect to someone who writes legit chiptune.

Famitracker is a good choice. You can also use LSDJ for the gameboy if you can work with it's confusing interface.
If you wanna make music for the SEGA Master System or Genesis/Mega Drive, try DefleMask.

Ah, posted in the wrong thread. I might as well answer properly

I was doing like video gamey kind of music when I just started making/producing music so you have my full support.
My advice is to keep at it and work work work if you want to make something out of it in the long term.
