I'd recommend you use construction and study proportions.
Look up Andrew Loomis and drawabox.com and most importantly, draw something daily.

"Fun with a pencil" by Andrew Loomis covers it pretty well, and it goes more in-depth as you turn the pages so it goes with the pace you are improving at. After that I'd recommend moving onto his other books and other artists as well like Michael Hampton and Karl Gnass.
I'm in the process of improving as well so hopefully we'll both see some results in the near future.
