The United States, or even North America is a pretty great place to be. Most of us don't have to worry about a large predator eating us when we step out to get the mail. There aren't roving bands of terroristic groups snatching up people. You can drink water from the tap, in most locations. We actually have some form of Representative Republic. Most of us have so much food that some of it goes "bad" and we end up throwing it away. You can start a religion and worship an old pair of shoes, nobody can tell you different. We can search porn all day, and as long as it's legal and legit, nobody is going to bother you. You're free to assemble. Despite it's flaws, we actually have pretty decent healthcare, much better than you'd get in some 3rd world bush. You can get nearly anywhere you want via our road and rail systems. You can say the dumbest shit you want and not be locked up. Etc, etc...
There's a lot to be thankful about, being here and not being in many other places. I think this is important to keep in mind, in this time of division.
