Good for him I suppose, but perhaps not the most suitable award.
An excellent choice for a lifetime's worth of beautiful writing. If a musician was going to win, it had to be him. If poetry (historically meant to be sung out loud) and plays 'count' then surely so does song writing - there's no point in limiting what is or isn't art and literature, and getting bogged down in pedantry. The world needs all the beauty it can get, and all the celebration that comes with it.
I say good job to the swedish academy for not buckling to tradition. The times, they are a-changin.
That said I don't expect him to accept it. Not because he's undeserving, he's just "bigger" than awards in general, let alone a controversial one. He's always been a reluctant leader.
