Besides really mainstream sites and others who make their users pay to have an account, how many can you name that are doing really well for themselves financially and in terms of user regularity? And even more, how many of those websites have been plagued by the "We're dying" meme for 15+ years? NG's doing pretty well for itself all things considered, brah.
