If you are stuck on a super old computer, you should still be able to use firefox and chrome, which DO have modern support.
sorry for late reply
not even internet explorer 9 has the console object by default, and Microsoft not supporting it doesnt mean people dont use it. i use an older firefox and a userscript to make it work, but most people probably wouldnt, or dont know how.
and it wouldnt set anything back, it would just make the site work on older browsers with no drawbacks. new browsers obviously wont be affected or held back, and there are no compatibility issues since it would just define the 'console' object on older browsers, which newer ones already have by default..
plus i think writing in the console is a really um.. trivial thing to lose support for. or maybe not, but as i said it wouldnt be affected, just made available for more people, sort of.. and it would also require no effort to do. copy-pasting the small script from my post would be enough, if you have one spare minute..
but sorry if im wasting your time. im just trying to help people
