I see that it doesn't involve any pre made loops. Is it okay to use Linux Multimedia Studio?

Yep totally fine. Is LMMS any good nowadays? I remember trying it out a few years ago and being a bit underwhelmed.

LMMS is actually great!
I used it for almost 6 months when I started with music stuff, the only reason I left using it was the lack of attention by developers for it to support more popular vst's.
as for the starters, I would definitely recommend it.

Learn the Rules like a pro, so you can Break them like an artist.
