Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni/When They Cry, most definitely. Love the mystery, love the characters, love the writing. Can't wait until they've translated the rest, I've finished reading episode 3 and can't wait until 4. Though, I wish that I hadn't spoiled myself with the anime.

Though I never played it, Steins;Gate. Seen the anime, but never played the visual novel. Steins;Gate happens to be one of my favorites, and finding out it's based off of a visual novel makes me want to play it.

YU-NO. I thought the ending was a little too cheesy, but... The writing, music, graphics, and overall scope of the game are just great. The protagonist is interesting and feels like a real person, and his dialogue is often hilarious. It's the best reading experience I've had in quite some time, possibly the best ever.

That is true. That is why I created this topic. To find some of the good ones.
I've never gotten a chance to play a visual novel but I'm going to go on a hunch that they are unlike Dating Sims. The only one's i'm familar with are the Ace Attorney and Professor Layton games ,I think that's where the genre got there start off ... On the Ds.

Wario Date. I kept on seeing Vinesauce's full stream recommended to me on Youtube, and after seeing it in a joke vid about bad Mario games you can find on the good old internet, I decided to download it.
Every last piece of dialogue made me ball up laughing because it was so weird.
