Guns do have uses and I'm all for supporting a reasonable right to bear arms. The term reasonable in any use includes knowing what is and is not needed. Civilians do not need machine guns. Plus, no one aregue that the right to bear arms does not include the word reasonable, because in the very act of argueing against me you will in fact be makeing my point that much more clear.

It's true that it doesn't completely eliminate the presence of assault rifles. However, it significantly reduces the amount of them. There might not necessarily be more crime if they were made legal, but the criminals could be nigh impossible to stop. A gang of 5 with assault rifles and bulletproof vests would require a massive amount of polic force to bring down. It's true that if they were really adamant about getting them, they probably could. But if they were legal, they would cheaper and much more available, and more people would have them. Someone who goes postal isn't going to spend 2 weeks and $3000 trying to get an AK47.

I suppose AK47's could be legalized if and only if there was an extremely thorough and strict check. The person would have to be 100% clean, have a legitimate, verifyable reason for wanting to own one, and there would have to be a significant waiting period. However, I'm not sure even that would be safe. People would be able to fake it to some extent, and even if criminals couldn't, I'm sure arms dealers could. Again, it would just increase the number of assault rifles on the market.

No, I think you were just being dumb again like with most of your arguments. The reason they outlaw things like guns and drugs is not so that it goes away, nobody is stupid enough to believe that people will just say "oh, that's illegal, guess I better not try to get it or give it to people", but what it does do is allow police to get dangerous people off the streets. Like stafffighter said to me on this issue, the only people who would really need an assault weapon are people who would put them to bad use. If you really want to protect yourself and your family, stay out of bad neighborhoods where being armed is a neccessity.

He with the biggest gun isen't always going to come out on top. Things like pistols are harder to get than rifles because of factors like ammo capasity and concealability. Plus there are factors like suprise, skill in marksmanship, intent in general and level of motivation. If you have an m16 with a double drum magazine, grenade launcher and lazer sights and I'm able to sneak behind you with a 5 dollar swiss army knife, I still win.

An AK is a MILITARY GRADE WEAPON. As in, civilians shouldn't have acess to that kind of gun. An AK is for runing into a room and gunning down 5 or 6 people, not for protecting your house. And you say you have kids and a family? What if your son or daughter found your magical AK and started playing with it, huh? What if they splattered their innards all over the living room floor. How would you feel then.

1) i teach my kids from a youg age, that guns arent toys, and teach them how to properly handle one, and basic gun safty.

2) a hunting rifle is a millitary grade weapon. (yes the army did use hunting rifeles at one time)

3) im not a murdurer, neither are the overwelming magority of gun owners (99.9995%)
