HA!
Just make sure that there isn't too much hugboxing involved.
Make it edgy and include a title that people can't pass up.
Take a look at my threads and learn from the best.

How is that fair?

I'm just here to talk about things. I make threads about things I want to talk about (concerts, vinyl). I pop into threads just to see what's going on, but over half of the threads that I've been in have been garbage and led to no intelligent discussion. I'm sure that the majority of topics have been discussed, so maybe it's just time for me to go 1,000 pages deep and resurrect the intelligent life form of this place.

Pretty much. Emphasis on DoctorStrongbad.
It's all shits and giggles until someone giggles and shits.
Put furries in your threads. People on the bbs love those.

tbh I haven't even been that active for the month I've been on. I started off just posting my crappy art.
I like you guys though you're all pretty cool.
Dare to talk about controversial stuff like "I'm voting for trump" or something. It's the internet for something so make people angry.

Y'know your posts are God-Tier when they are abruptly locked without warming.
Right @FoAngel

If you do this then you'll be off to a good start, OP.

Have fun getting them all locked because you necrobumped them..
Also that was mid-2012.

I've been gone since 2011. What's wrong with bumping something that I actually want to talk about, instead of creating a new thread about it?
Just stop making threads about every little thing that pops into your head. They seem interesting to you but for the most part, everyone else couldn't care less.

Let's consult the rules that no one follows and that hardly any mods actually enforce...
Things that will get you banned
Bumping any old topic without a good reason and new information.
Just because you "feel" like bumping an old thread doesn't mean you should. And just because you want to bump it doesn't mean it's a remotely good reason to do so. And I can honestly say you'd have nothing new to add to a years old discussion and you'd be better off just making a new post instead of getting banned for being an idiot.

Link me to the rules.

Wow. What year were these rules made in? I didn't see a date posted anywhere.

The rules DO get changed sometimes though.
"New user introduction" threads used to be against the rules. Then Tom lifted that rule and made it cool to do so.
Then a bunch of users started bitching about it....now we have a thread dedicated to new users introducing themselves which I don't even know gets much use nowadays since I haven't been in there for a long ass time.

That's interesting. I'd like to see a list of revisions that were made to the rules, with dates. I was on this site from 2008-2011, and just rejoined recently. I remember when I was new in 2008 I got banned for creating a "forum game" thread, but those seem okay now. Just interesting stuff.
Just stop posting for like a year and see how you feel about threads then.
I honestly don't know how to make a quality thread, but two things I can say from experience is that don't make wild accusations that you can't back up, that's a flame war waiting to happen, and don't try to prolong a thread longer than necessary with repeated bumps, (aka Strongbad) just occasionally pop in to keep it relevant and/or contribute to a response.
Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.

You know a hiatus might not be a bad idea seeing as I have been here over a decade. Though I still want to post in other threads.
