That and many ad sponsors don't want their ads next to meetnfuck and the like.
Thanks for the update. I appreciate you being so down to earth and straight up with the info. U u U
You're doing great stuff for the paid members. Keep going and I might become one.

Interesting, will have to look into that - we still use the Flash player in Firefox because it didn't handle the HTML5 player well in the past but maybe it's time to switch to HTML5 for latest versions.

Have a feature in mind that would push you over the edge?

Having a job. But seriously, being able to download swf games and even parts of them like the music would be cool. I used to rip stuff from here and use a SWF Decompiler program. I know it's probably not gonna happen. Sorry.

Actually, being able to just download .swf files here with a button press would be pretty neat, even though a lot of programs already do that for free, it's just the fact it could just be right there on the site... that would be pretty neat

If there's no potential copyright problems there, optional (allowed by author) download buttons would definitely be nice to have.
It would be pretty cool with other downloads an author can add too, source codes and such, maybe promo/extra material like wallpapers, sprites, etc. Links to such things do appear in descriptions occasionally, but it'd be neat with an official box for such stuff, with file sizes and icons and hit counters and what-not. And paid downloads! With an account area within which purchases can be retrieved. Potential for easy percentual provision for the site?

It's a pity youtube doesn't allow outbound linking in their video notes. But yeah, I probably should. I'm thinking of giving my Youtube account a proper overhaul. Maybe remove everything I have on there (50% is shit anyway) and (re-)upload some of my stuff with a big fat watermark. Better yet though, I'm thinking of changing my profile banner into some proper propaganda along along the lines of "Thanks for visiting! Youtube's been going downhill lately, don't you think? For a better experience, check out my stuff on Newgrounds instead!" And there would be an arrow leading to the bottom-right of the banner where an icon would link to Newgrounds. Or maybe I should make the link and icon stand out from the rest of the banner by using a lot of white and otherwise clever design/colors that clickbait people into visiting Newgrounds. Nobody actually visits my youtube because I never upload or promote that shit, but perhaps I should start a trend of sorts.

Yeah, I would really love to see Newgrounds "use" youtube against themselves as a means of self-promotion more often. I'm a big of the Animation Flashback videos for instance (Keep em coming @liljim!). Those private settings are an ingenious idea by the way. I had never thought of that before.

Heh, for that to happen the game's database needs to be nested into the website itself. I'm guessing it's possible for html5 games but not for flash or unity. The idea is interesting though, I really like it.

Not a bad idea. I'm a bit worried people might take content and earn money from it by uploading it to youtube, but we're talking loyal Newgrounders here, so there's probably not much to worry about. Besides, if anyone wanted to do that, there's not much stopping them from doing it now... Except maybe the know-how.

Oooh, I like that! Maybe supporters could have access to the "Shared Files" section on a project's dashboard as well. Although admittedly I don't use the feature that often. Oftentimes it doesn't contain much more than old versions of the project, I wonder if anyone would consider stealing content if it was up for grabs... I still really like something along the lines of that idea.

You would be my fucking hero if you did all this, bro.
I'm not kidding, that would be fucking awesome.

Easily the best way to take advantage of their not so impartial treatment of other video content, while easing the file burden on newgrounds. Hope more people do this.

That'd be awesome. :) As for the privacy settings, I've had all my videos on YT marked as unlisted a long time now, embedded on my blog. It's pretty useful! Would probably get way more exposure to the channel if there was something there for people to see, but I'd rather interact with others on my own terms/on places I like to be.

That'd be a pretty neat way of integrating it if you added those files via that tab, though I do hope you don't mean they'd get automatic access to all shared files, without an author first marking the file for users to be able to access? :O Some of those files can be somewhat private.

You'll need to make one, I suppose? Or have someone else make one for you/find one that's already been made. The Sig Makers club could be a good place for that. Once it's done, just upload as usual. Format should probably be .GIF.

We are planning to allow animated icons but have been planning to show them as static on pages that show lots of icons, so it doesn't get crazy. We'll see how that goes over for starters... Lots of animated icons could get pretty bloated.
Someone will have to make you an animated sig (or you can make one) but I think someone already answered that one.

No plans for those at the moment...
hmmm... improving the site, cleaning it up from (malicious spam), and doing good things for the place? good news, mr tom!
keep up the great work!
also, i highly suggest you to keep advertising those ''adult rated content pages'' in your site-ads, because they are a good source of funds/site income.
if it helps NG, then it MUST happen!
no need to be prudes around here...
(like that one investor who run away screaming ''oh porn, NOOOOOOO!!''
BTW, i also suggest you to start selling T-shirts and NG merc through a third-party company, such as amazon and/or zazzle.
you could be selling mugs, T-shirts, posters and stickers, which would help NG in the long run.
(and all the hosting/organising expenses would burden the third-party company alone, such as amazon. they did it with deviantart's T-shirt's merc, so it could work for us, too, right?! )
anyways, stay strong man!
lets keep NG alive!

I think customizable user page skins would be cool, or maybe a larger banner

Speaking of which, it'd be really great if this limit could be lifted as well. 3 requests/minute makes for really slow downloading, even compared to the limits from back in the day, with certain download quotas/day for AP tracks. I'd rather have that system back, or a throttle on download speed. At least then you could start a few more downloads at the same time and let them finish at whatever pace the site infrastructure allows, rather than checking back every minute, and getting another minute penalty if you try too early.

It's a damn shame there's no anti-trust proceedings in Google's future. The EU might levy some fines or command some cosmetic changes, but where Google roosts in the US, nothing, I'm sure.

User banners are definitely making a return. Custom user page skins have potential as well.
