The fact that bamboo grows so fast has been exploited by some. A form of torture is to tie a person to the ground and let the bamboo grow up his ass.

Since bamboo grows so fast, it will be up to his head in not time.

There is actually a torture/execution method in which someone will be tied down to a table with a hole in the bottom and someone will plant sharpened bamboo plants underneath them and wait for the bamboo to grow and stab strait through the victim.

I have a lot of bamboo growing on my parents' property, and it sure as hell isn't growing *that* fast

kudzu grows at least 1 inch an hour, for those of you who dont know what kudzu is, it's a infestatios but cool looking plant, that some scottish guy brought over to the south of the US. The only thing that can permanantly get rid of them are goats...

I didn't know that about bamboo. I do know bamboo is extremely hardy and can be a nuisance to get rid of if it starts growing on your property.

Fun fact: Back in 'Nam, guerilla fighters would sharpen bamboos until the tip made your fingers bleed, then they would put animal crap on it and stick it on the ground. The unfortunate person who would step on it would either bleed to death or get his blood infected by shit.
