I'm currently the only animator working on animation to be projected during a play that opens in early March, in Norfolk, VA. I've done a fair amount of character design, and I've finished 30% of the animatic, but if I started on the final animation today, I would have to complete 45 seconds of animation a day, every day for the next month to be finished on time.
I'm working in Flash CC, with backgrounds made in Photoshop. The play is called 'The Pillowman' and is about an author in a dystopian country, being interrogated by the police for his violent stories. The animations are visualizations of his "Grimm's Fairy-Tales"-esque stories. They are super cool stories but way too much for 1 person to animate. What I'm looking for is Flash animators who can A) animate characters based on my designs B) follow animatics C) collaborate in a timely manner.
The pay is modest, but this is a paid gig, and anyone involved will get 2 free tickets to the show and will be able to use their contributions in their reels, and will be able to post WIPs as content online. It's important to note that the pay is dictated by the theatre company- not me, not the director- and will be split between those working on it, based on the amount they contribute. 80% of the reason I agreed to work on this is the quality of the stories- they're really cool, dark and have clever twists- but I can't do it alone. If you're interested in contributing visual art (animation preferred, but if you want to help with designs that works too), please send me your reel and/or portfolio- CalSlater@gmail.com
DEADLINE: February 26/27th
Below is the work I have so far. 4/5 stories are dark and Gothic, with designs inspired by Edward Gorey, Tim Burton & Lane Smith. 1 of them is more along the lines of Looney Tunes shorts.
