newgrounds censorship alert

attention NG members, the censorship on Newgrounds has escalated to new heights. the whistle feature seemed like a great new feature to mark movies that auto-spawn popups or other maliciousness. but now the whistle has become a tool of abuse, people use it instead of voting 0 because voting 0 does not guarentee a blam, but blowing the whistle will remove the movie from the portal. now a level 1 idiot can remove a movie from the portal.

on what grounds are movies being whistled unjustly? mainly because the movies are offensive. "offensive" is subjective, the movie has nudity, offensive, the movie has homosexual references, offensive, the movie has vulgar language, offensive, the movie makes fun of Mega Man, offensive.

I am speaking from experience, me and my co-author's last movie I made looked like it looped at the end so the viewer would not watch the entire thing and vote on the movie based on animation, graphics, sound, etc instead of personal opinions. word got out about the ending scene, but the movie had already passed judgement with a decent score and could not be flagged. then the reviews came pooring in about the scene where a certain animator on Newgrounds was animated having sex. that animator's fans could not score the movie justly, instead there were over 100 reviews almost all were 0/10 saying things like how they were going to track me down and kill me.

those fans did all the could blammed, reviewed 0, but they could not use their precious whistles to get the movie flagged because it had already passed judgment. this brings us to today where I find my movie in the graveyard and an e-mail saying my movie was deleted because it had a bad score. no, my movie passed judgement and was deleted because there were so many angry reviewers who could not use that whistle and instead must have flooded tom's/wade's e-mail with angry letters. there are movies in the portal with 0.01/5.00 and still remain.

100's of movies a day get submitted poking fun at celebrities, even schoolmates & friends where these people are portrayed as gay and/or stupid but are judged based on the quality & entertainment. my movie had the same content but was judged unfairly. had I shown michael jackson having sex with a child it would have been ok, but because it was someone who has a lot of fans on NG it was removed. if the movie was resubmitted with a black censorship bar over any offensive material it would be whistled because it's not about the "offensive" sexual representation (me and my co-author drew everything in Flash anyway, there was no photo-realistic nudity).

I am now asking that all movies with similar content be removed from Newgrounds or that mine be put back in the portal. and I would also like to see the whistle option "offensive" removed due to its vague description.

for those of you too lazy to read through my entire long post, here is a summary:

my movie was deleted because it was "offensive" yet many "offensive" movies, much more extreme than mine, remain. this makes offensive material objectionable and should not be a reason for a blown whistle, especially not to a website originally built on offensive movies and plastered with hentai ads.
if action is not taken now newgrounds will be owned by disney and the only thing left to watch will be little mermaid cartoons. or maybe that will be too offensive for audiences as well...

He does have a good point though. One of the reasons I enjoyed this site so much was because it seemed to be one of the few places left on the planet where you could do, say, and show just about anything you wanted without fear of P.C. dipshits and tree-hugging hippies giving you a hard time. If all of that is taken away, this site becomes little more then a shitty version of Shockwave.com.

If his movie was deleted because of a low score, then fine... maybe next time he won't make a flash bashing a well known, and very popular, NG user. But if it seriously was removed because of the "offensive" material then maybe somebody should point out how wrong that is for a site like this.

It passed judgement and got removed because of LF fanboys blowing the wistle, if they couldn't handle the material they shouldn't have watched the movie.

point being:

1)it PASSED JUDGEMENT it was a good movie with a good score until legendaryfrog fans blammed, and reviewed zero. because of them there is not a decent scoring movie that would find it's audience.
2) this movie took many many long hours and hard work to make and it is completely wasted because of a few 13 year olds worship legendaryfrog. how about you write a novel or paint a picture and some religious zealot burns it because it's "offensive." how would you feel?
3) it was AO (adults only), legendaryfrog fans are 10 to 13 years old and shouldn't have been watching that.
4)losing whistle points doesn't deter anyone from abusing it. why do you think there's a problem?

Well, this is an interesting conversation and does have a valid explanation. Movies that are simply of ones freedom of speech should not be judged by ones hate of emotions. What I mean by is that this situation is view in the oddest outcome. To be honest, one side is of a Nazi part and the other communism. The Nazi party is known to be very agressive and choosey of whom it associates with. Allowing just who they want for not judging upon the reasonable cirumstances.

The communist party, is known to allow ALL of it's candidates known as weak or strong to all have the same equal rights. Thus meaning, for those that have the lowest score are still in existence. And those that are not fairly judged unless obviously shown of abilities are not correctly evaluated.

What my point of veiw is, you really cannot change this, in America we are not to judge but, we all have to be fair to others, and we should allow the minimal requirements apply to all or none.

Actually, he brings up many good points about what could happen to Newgrounds, the more mainstream the ads go the more the ad companys tell Newgrounds just what they can have and can't have for them to support newgrounds.

I myself did not see the movie, but if it made it past Judgment, then I don't see what the big deal is.

it sucks for the entire newgrounds community. artists will be forced to create G rated movies in fear that their hard work will be deleted and the whole site will fall from there.

I never mentioned freedom of speech, go back and read my posts then maybe you'll have something worth listening to. my point is that the system this site is using does not work. if this continues then the site will lose the artists and audience and we become defunct which is something none of us want.
