In the end what Star Wars did is still more impressive that what Avatar and Titanic will ever do however as the franchise help paved the way that made things easier for these movies.

Avatar and Titanic were but overrated films. Star Wars had a chance to finally dethrone them, but now things look bad for it. Both films were re-released, which helped them earn those top spots. If The Force Awakens is re-released that would at least put all three films on the same level.
