Do we "need" a female Link? No. Do we "not need" a female Link? No. Do some people "want" a female Link? Yes. Do some people "not want" a female Link? Yes.

So it comes down to, some people want it and some people don't want it. The logical choice therefore is to make it an option, then people who want it can have it and people who don't want it don't have to have it.

Therefore there is nothing bad about the inclusion of a female Link. Anyone who is against this is basically saying they don't want others to enjoy something just because they don't want to enjoy it themselves. If you want to only care about yourself in that way then kindly fuck off so people can have fun playing a game.

This. Link has always been a man (though sometimes a boy as young as 11) since 1986.

If they want a game with a female protagonist, Nintendo could resurrect the Metroid series. If they could fuse the story-telling of Other M with the gameplay of Metroid Prime, then it could be a kickass installment to an already stellar series.

It doesn't bother me that there's a female link. I don't know why they went with Linkle, they could have come up with something better than that I imagine.

I imagine all of this talk about female's not being represented in gaming is a reason they even decided to make a female link. I honestly don't care, but do it because you want to not because you feel you need to.
