Rations (MRE's), yeah. Rent, no. I never had to pay rent for living in the barracks.
You take home about $20 000 a year. It's pretty shitty.
That's about right, but that $20k is what I'm pocketing after all the other payments are figured in. I actually net in closer to 24k a year.
Plus on top of that from what I hear it's extremely depressing/lonely. If you're joining the military to "become happy" and "make friends" you're not looking to the right place.
Pretty much. But then again I'm really introverted so it depends on the person.
My friend tried general camp (lifers) after being in the reserves/cadets and he quickly changed his life path. He said the people were horrible, it was the most agonizing experience he has ever had. Most annoying fucks he has ever had to deal with.
Sounds right. But there are some awesome people in the mix too. Also lol cadets.
