Have you seen the South Park episode when Stan started to see everything as crap?

I didn't think much of it when it came out but after rewatching it recently I realized that I have become Stan .

Its like no matter what I do I cannot escape the feeling that everything is .... crap .

I turn on TV - all I see is crap
All new movies - staring crap actor in a crap script with some crap explosions .
All new music - its like someone taking crap next to my ear .
Clothes style - might as well wear crap
Newgrounds threads - crappier?

Its like I have to be a little drunk to enjoy anything .

My buddy and I (mid-upper 30s) have talked about this before. A lot of movies are like this for me. I don't think I've seen a single Transformer movie sober, for example. Most movies and TV shows are just so stupid to me.

I think you have to look for things to enjoy though. Lately I've been going for long walks outside and today was really nice - warm but not too humid, sunny blue skies, big white clouds, and a nice breeze. I really enjoyed being outside today. Plus it's cool to be pleasantly surprised by a new album or a movie. There are lots of cool things out there, you just have to look for them I think.

Yep, as other people are saying, that's the world we live in. I woke up to how bad it is a while ago, and that was a good thing, because now I'm not in the dark about a lot of things. All sorts of bad things out there, but if you let yourself get played by the media, then you find yourself even more stressed. I don't pay attention much to the media anymore since they're responsible for spinning a lot of the crap in the world right now.

Well I can agree with you that things are getting crappier these days. But don't let yourself down these days.

Nah, the world is a beautiful, amazing and unimaginably vast place, there's just a bunch of crap to accentuate the beauty, love, intelligence and connection. You just have to take the crap glasses off; you only put them on to learn to recognize the crap so quit overfocusing on it and return your perspective and attention to a more proper, inspired state.

It has always been crap. The only cure is to pretend it isn't and continue living a lie.

Try to embrace the shit.

Having that attitude just adds needless stress to your life. Find the good things and embrace them, while tuning out whatever you find depressing. I'm just so tired of people thinking their asshole cynical approach to life makes them so enlightened. They're just miserable when they don't have to be.

Developing an acquired taste for crap proves to be beneficial in the long run.
