This is true. I don't care if a game has no story. I care only about the gameplay. Any story is a mere bonus and ideally is skippable, NES Ninja Gaiden style.
The Donkey Kong Country games were amazing.the controls were crap. those blast barrels spin spastically and the games all remind me too much of knuckles chaotix.
The controls absolutely were not crap nor were those barrels spastic, as you claim. If your reaction time is not good enough, that's on you, not the game. I can make the barrels do exactly what I want almost all the time, and in the few cases I don't, it's because I messed up, not the game.
lufia. slayers. tales of phantasia. super contra. super metroid. that's it. everything else i can think of exists on another system if it's not something i consider boring.
Well, "something you consider boring" could mean just about anything. There were tons of good exclusive SNES games though. Also it wasn't at all uncommon in the old days for games to be completely different on different systems, so don't be so quick to dismiss SNES titles because some other system has the same title either. They could be entirely different games with little or nothing in common.
And there's far more SNES exclusives than just your 4 cherry-picked examples. But again "something you consider boring" is far too vague. I could list amazing SNES games and you could just retort with "oh I find those boring". It's a cop out card.
There are so many great retro platorms, it would be easier to pick the worst one. lol

philips cdi.
has to be.
I'm not really sure what platform I'd consider to be my favourite. In my mind, the SNES is the perfect example of a retro platform for some reason, even though it wasn't until the past couple of years that I actually got to play one. The controller is iconic, it seems to have a good amount of classic titles and I always have fun playing it.

It bugs me when I see people call it the PSX aswell. I'd never heard anyone refer to it as the PSX until I started visiting video game forums and encountered Americans. Amongst me and my friends it was always either called the PlayStation or PS1.

This guy knows the score. To be fair I recall magazines, even the official playstation mag, calling it the "PSX", and obviously that was from before the PS2 even existed. Still it's a dumb name based on nothing and ya'll can blow a cartridge.
The Playstation is my favourite console of all time with the NES and SNES following behind, but I bought a Dreamcast literally yesterday and it's already well up there. Every other system i think particularly highly of are only one or two gens old.
The PS2...a legendary console. I had too many good memories and tons of games on it. I also liked the Sega Genesis but it broke after a couple of hours..fascinating eh?
You bunch of Yoyos!

no way, it's not that bad of a system and has some alright games
or the virtual boy. or one of those other consoles nobody knows about.
ehhh, we'd be giving that to the r-zone before the virtual boy.
Nintendo 64. Banjo Kazooie 1 & 2. Legend of Zelda Oot and MM. Goldeneye. Conker's Bad fur day. Smash bros. Pokemon Stadium. The N 64 is just filled with classics.

The SNES is a wonderful console. I have played the original and different emulators.

Good man. Thank god for DOS Box
But if we could go back to a command line interface, well nostalgia-aside it would suck ass.
But the nostalgia is strong.
Graphical operating systems were the norm when I was a little kid, but I grew up using DOS anyway. Mainly because my computer was a super old one. (386 Laptop the size of a briefcase with a monochrome orange screen)
I learned so much on that beast.

Yeah I believe it's old enough to warrant to be retro ...but then Again I also believe that most of the games have aged well graphically.
SEGA Mega Drive
SEGA Dreamcast
XBOX
NES
Neo Geo (would die for an MVS)
GBA SP (SG-101)
Also really like the PC Engine (:
It's all shits and giggles until someone giggles and shits.
