Why isn't there an app for newgrounds yet? I know that the most obvious answer would be that many of the movies won't work on phones, and neither will any of the games. But we could at least have an art portal app, an audio portal app, or an app for the forums!

Make an app yourself then if you care about it that much.
Go pay your royalty fees to Apple, buy the necessary hardware, code the thing yourself, and put it in their app store.
Likely it doesn't exist because no one cares enough to actually spend the time and money to make it exist. I know it's not something I care about and would never use.
The thing with mobile development is you're paying royalties for the privilege of making things that work on whichever phone you choose. Ditto if you want to do the same for the others (Google/Microsoft). You play by their rules and those rules are much more restrictive than those for PC software.
I keep hoping this smartphone app fad will die out.

Because the staff are too busy on dumbass features like organizing your blog comments and other pointless features besides a newgrounds app would be "too difficult to maintain" along side the regular site so they've desired to fuck with the desktop version to make it "mobile friendly" which it isn't.
because newgrounds is dead already so it really doesnt matter

As far as any of us know, nobody has picked up the project. Of course, no admins have been @'d in this thread so it's unlikely that any of the people who actually know will be able to tell us.
There's an NG app for your Roku box/stick. I haven't used it in ages tho because I'm always on the website.
Newgrounds has always been slow when it comes to having things other sites have had for years. We didn't get rich text editing until last year and it's still exclusive to userpages only. By the time we get one, apps will probably be long forgotten.

Because mobile devices can't play flash movies and games, and there isn't a lot of people who use Newgrounds nowadays.
They should definitely make an app so that you can download and play HTML 5 games on your phone. Also, maybe an app for browsing the forums.

I mean if it's free, has better mobile compatibility, and gets you to newgrounds faster than using your browser, it'd be pretty awesome
