It plainly did matter enough to make you write a thread complaining about it occupying one of the 11 lines in the post Tom made. Tom regularly writes random quips about unrelated websites in his posts; why did this one get put on a pedestal?
I'm sure this matters to some people. It doesn't matter to me. I didn't use or care about Reddit, and I still don't now. That's not likely to change either, given what I read following the link.
I don't use reddit, but I've never seen anything wrong with it's community. I just don't like the interface.
