I'm not from America, I'm Austrailian, but I'm setting a candle out on Friday at 7.
America might need some support to get through this one, whether they want it or not. Anyone who finds the attack on the World Trade Center as terrible as it really is should show their willingness to help.

I spent the whole day watching and listening to the people of the nation and they all call for one thing: Not justice, vengeance.
But now is not the time for vengeance. Now is the time to pull together as one and help those who cannot help themselves. I know I'm usually the first the call for fighting but there are too many dead and too little alive and able in NY. I feel so angry and helpless. I couldn't even donate blood because I got the flu. I just want to tear way the blocks and concrete covering the bodies. Yesterday is a day that will forever engraved in my mind. It is something I will tell my grandchildren and I want to believe that instead of asking for more blood, I asked for life. There will always be those that hate others, I shall not fear them, I will not allow myself to be ruled by anger because someone else was, and I will stand by this nation. Not because I think its the greatest, or most wealthy, but because it is my home.

My Uncle Bob and my two cousins Bobbi (betty) and Elizabeth were on the 92nd floor of the second tower. Their dead. Im going to kill those bastards who did that if its the last thing i ever do. They need their justice.

Did you want us to respect your cause? You just damned your cause.

to tear us apart? You just brought us together. Let me tell you about my
people. We are a vast and quarrelsome family, a family rent by racial,
cultural, political and class division, but a family nonetheless. We're
frivolous, yes, capable of expending tremendous emotional energy on pop
cultural minutiae, a singer's revealing dress, a ball team's misfortune, a
cartoon mouse.

A friend of mine told me to check out cnn.com and watch for a face in the smoke in the lower left hand corner of the second crash. Its actually pretty fucking scary. Looks like a demons face, check it out yourself on any major news network. Slow the movie down and look at it good. Fuck...

Support is welcome, actually among the images of the tragity that have been bombarding us since the event (all other tv programming was cancelled for the last two days) are outpourings of support from our neighboring Canada, friends such as France, Italy, Autralia and many others, and even former Enemies from what was the USSR.
Iraq is the only nation on the planet who has not expressed outrage and offered support.

It is truly heartening to see that, just as America has helped many other countries in times of crisis, we have support in our time of pain.

On Friday, Canadians have the opportunity to show that they feel America’s pain, as the country pauses for a day of national mourning.

Here in Toronto, a makeshift memorial (pictured) has been set up outside the U.S. Consulate on University Avenue, where flowers and letters of condolence are being left behind. And around the city, several ceremonies are being held, including one at B.C.E. Place at 11am. As well, people are invited to sign the Book Of Condolences at City Hall.

Meanwhile in Ottawa, there will be a ceremony on Parliament Hill, with MPs, Senators, the Governor-General, and the U.S. ambassador all in attendance. Firefighters and police officers have also been invited, as have an honour guard and many in Ottawa's diplomatic corps. They will all be taking in an hour-long service, beginning a noon eastern time.

At 12:20, the country will observe 3 minutes of silence.

It’s Canada's first day of national mourning in over 30 years.

The author makes a single good point. We've practically ignored every single attrocity commited around the world. We were most definitely jaded, that is, until acts such as these were commited in our midst. My biggest worry 4 days ago was choosing what clothes to buy for a party this coming weekend... We lived a blissful and dreamy existence, it has vanished now. These dreaded events were a wake-up call for us, nothing less than a slap in the face.

I can only hope that the American warmongers among us can calm down a bit before they catapult us all into our most hate-fueled jihad against muslims yet. We've got our damnations flying about already despite a complete lack of clear evidence implicating any one person or organization. By default the media commands us to assume that Muslims are involved due to the way
video clips of a few rejoicing Palestinian children have been brandished. That's been enough for most people to condemn the entire race outright. Millions of people in the US confidently despise Palestinians, many calling for their death or exile from even our own country, yet how many understand the history of why the Palestinians are fighting the Israelis in the first place?

The NYC tragedy is truly horrific, but does not at all dwarf the often covert role of the US in other countries. Those of us in shock at the death of US civilians should study our government's worldwide history of bombings, weapons supply, and occupation on *civilian* people elsewhere (e.g. Iran, Iraq, Yugoslavia, Central/South America). There hasn't been and will never be a "clean war" in which the US role could truly be dubbed just and without harm to foreign civilians. How many civilians died in Hiroshima & Nagasaki, again? 200,000??? And how many have our continued sanctions on Iraq killed up to this
day? This is the tragedic idea of "righteous justice" that our country has wielded in the past - all too often against civilians.

Had the media shown us just how many anti-american sentiments there are throughout the world, perhaps we wouldn't be quite so quick to jump to conclusions. The truth is that no one knows who committed the NYC atrocity yet.

Bloodthirst overwhelms both logic and the truth in these situations and it scares me to death. I sense some incredibly itchy trigger fingers who are dying to kill arabs/afghanis/etc. in front of the cameras (rather than casually hiding the US's *continued* bombings and civilian-starving sanctions on Iraq the way they have been over the past 10 years.) Give us a
spark and we'll set off as many bombs as we can reach. Given that we've already got our military bases planted in around 99% of the countries in the
world, I fear that's quite a few bombs....
