Rap has sucked since the 90s
I disagree. I think there was a lot of good rap music back in the 90s compared to the stuff they try to pass off as "rap" nowadays.

80's was terrible.
Also disagree. I can name plenty of rap songs from the 80s that I thought were actually quite good. In fact, I recently posted a list of several of them in the 80s music thread.

That song was in gta so it gets a pass.
I don't think "Boyz in the Hood" was ever in GTA, unless you're talking about GTA V. I haven't played that one yet so I wouldn't know...

There's a LOT of trash from the 90s too. Call me crazy but I'm not interested in 2pac or Biggie at all, despite them being considered revolutionary for the movement. If I want commentary I'll listen to Public Enemy. If I want flow I'll listen to Del the Funky Homosapien.
Del's a pretty dope rapper. I grew up in the Bay Area so I knew about him and Hiero ever since I was in elementary school. I still like 2pac though. 2pac is another Bay Area legend.
Honestly, I'm of the opinion that the stuff being branded as "rap" music today is not actually rap at all, and is actually just pop music. I could never call any of the stuff that kids listen to nowadays "rap." I'm sure many people might disagree with me on this, but that's just how I feel.
I was born in the 80s, grew up in the 90s and experienced what I consider to be the "golden age" of rap music. I think the so-called "rap" the kids listen to nowadays is absolute garbage. That being said, however, I still think that there is still good rap music out there, it's just so underground that hardly anyone knows about it. If you want to hear some dope shit check out K-Rino. He's like the antithesis to everything that is considered "rap" today.
