Pro-Life but Pro-Death Penalty? 2001-09-10 23:46:07 Reply

This makes no sense!

Okay, as you may know, the Pro-Life community has a very vocal backing... so vocal, it's almost scary! But one thing I noticed is that most "Pro-Lifers" are in support of the death penalty! Now, let me get this straight... if we kill a fetus, which may or may not be alive, it's murder... but if we kill a person, whom we know is alive, it's okay? Now I believe that if a major massacre is committed, the death penalty can be used, but I also believe in Abortion as well.

That's not to say that if you're against the death penalty, you have to be against abortion as well. As I mentioned, there is no proof that abortion actually is murder. The fetus may or may not be alive!

Am I the only one who thinks this?

Technically no, hypothetically yes.

Let's say a fetus is alive...it has not done anything wrong for anyone to just sentence it to death. Where as a convicted murderer had a chance to live out his life but he chose to do something so wrong that 12 person convicted him to death for it.

No I too am guilty of this reasoning.

You know maybe we should just outlaw abortion and the death penalty! Hay I'm a Right Wing, but maybe we should both shut up.("we" as in the two main parties)

Yeah, that's me. Although I wouldn't call myseld a pro-lifer. I think that abortion should be legal, I just don't agree with it. I was very pro-death penalty, but lately I've been thinking about that one too.

I've just been no help. I'll have to get back to you later on this one.

Quote of the day: @Nysssa "What is the word I want to use here?" @freakapotimus "Taint".

Don't worry. You make more sense than the people I was refering to. You believe that even though it's not right, people should still have the option. That and you're not really that sure anymore about it. And you don't call yourself "Pro-Life", so that makes sense...

I was mainly refering to people you talk about the sanctity of life while bombing an Abortion Clinic. The two faced "Death in the Name of God" people.

What I don't understand about the death penalty is that most people get the death penalty for killing one or more people, right? If a 12 person jury condems them to death, they are technically the killers, or is that the executioner? whatever.....but my point is how can they bring justice to a killer by killing? Shouldn't they be killed too? If that makes any sense....
