The reason is not mysterious at all. It is very simple. "Bible says". You know how the US is supposed to have separation of church and state? Well, that might be true on paper, but too often they are intertwined in reality. So the real reason the US helps Israel so much is because "Bible says" they are God's chosen people, as well as various prophecies in the Bible that say their protector will be a powerful nation as well as tons of bad stuff happening if they're not protected (think apocalypse).

So despite the US claiming it has "separation of church and state", in reality it is led by the church.

These are entirely religious wars. What secular benefit have we? Hell, what benefit have the Israelites to remain where they are, other than because it's what their holy book says is the "promised land"?

Israel, for me it's a good country unlike Palestine. Israel's community's good and most of the people are nice there.

Just another country that does what countries do.

Though I must say that they are impressively bad at diplomacy.

Well, but at the same time if you claim a land you have to be able to defend that claim. And it appears they are unable to do so without US involvement. Certainly they are allowed to stay there and fight if they wish. I just think they'd be better off, say, abandoning it and moving to the US or something, considering there's constant war and they're outnumbered in the middle east.

I don't like the violence in that area and I don't like militant Islam, but they've kind of taken over that area of the world except that small country, which they also want because they claim it's their holy land as well.

What is easier -- defeating all of militant Islam or moving the Jews out of that area of the world, giving them safe harbor in the US and other countries, and just letting the Muslims have it?

It's a chunk of fairly mediocre land where generations of irreplaceable wonderful unique people full of potential have been traumatized maimed and/or killed over where the imaginary lines fall and what what name people call it.

It's also in an interesting stage of development. It's been conquered and reconquered and reconquered again for millennia, but in this last iteration, after being taken from the Ottoman Empire by the British Empire, was turned over to the United Nations so that the world could decide what the hell to do with it, and people seem more outraged with the result of that decision than if the British had done what everyone else had done since forever and just kept it as an imperial property.

For better or worse, the UN decided on a two-state solution, carving up the British mandate into a country for indigenous Palestinians and the nation of Israel, hoping to solve the problem of the displaced European Jewish population. Whether or not a two-state solution was right or wise, I don't know, and can hardly comment on without firing up the worst kind of partisan bickering.

What I will say without any hesitation is that neither the Palestinians nor the Israelis nor the forces otherwise involved have shown adequate respect for human life. The cost in human life and misery, as inflicted by both sides, is simply inexcusable, and the justification for collateral damage is nothing but total hypocrisy.

If you want me to be honest, I sometimes really can't stand the dialogue going into and out of Israel, as well as many attitudes among the Israelis.

They Purposely attack the USS Liberty, kill Americans who posed no threat to them, and commit what the world unanimously define as war crimes, and and they get away with it, yet when America wants to do something like make a make a reasonable nuclear deal with Iran, or even make just make the Israelis recognize that it's wrong to kill civilians all of a sudden we are anti-Semitic, they reference the Holocaust and we are some sort of radical.

I mean militant Islam is going to continue to attack Israel probably as long as it exists. If we could wipe out militant Islam, that could be one solution, but how can we accomplish that? Another solution could be to relocate the Israelis to safer countries. This isn't going to be popular with religious Israelis because they'll see Israel as the "promised land" and it probably wouldn't be popular with secular Israelis either because, well, no one likes the idea of having to move far away to another country.

But your options are basically eradicate all the militant factions of Islam *or* relocate the Israelis to safer areas of the world (USA and whatever European countries are friendly to Jewish people) *or* we continue with the age-old struggles and wars that seem endless.

Problem is it's just geographically located right smack dab in the middle of all the Muslim countries so it has enemies on all sides.

Let's get this out of the way, both Israel and Palestine are pretty horrible towards each other, but with that said, Israel might just be the lesser of the two evils if only because the savages are constantly spitting acid on the front door. Egypt and Jordan were savvy enough to realize that Israel isn't to be messed with even without much help from the West, (the wars in '48 and '67 prove this) but Hamas, Syria and Iran, (who really has no stake in this other than cultural posturing) seem to be hell bent on destroying roughly 50 miles of sand and dirt, and a holy place in between, or at least ripping the West Bank away.

The U.S. supporting Israel is primarily for foothold purposes first and foremost, and any religious meaning is nothing more than convienent happenstance, though the Christian Right have certainly exploited this over the years. To insist that there is no separation of church and state because we support Israel is simply ludicrous at best, because last time I checked, not everyone in America is on board with Israel doing what they're doing, but the alternatives are much worse. After all, China and Russia (nominally) support North Korea, who are trying to be less like 1984, and more like Imperium of Man from 40K, without the justification, and that's far worse.

I dont rely have a cause I just get a lot of unexplained hetred online and wanted to see what was the situation here and although people aren't all supporting israel thats not the point the point is that only here i got thoughtful explanations and i was surprised for good

well guys because of the well explained responses I got here I see there are open minded intelligent people to talk with and I feel open enough to say I just came back from a 4 day military test that includes no sleep and constant running with dosens of killos on your back and mental tests to say that i am going to 7 years to the idf to be a missile ship captain
