Why can't I just like Anime and not assign myself a specialized name?

It seems to me like both 'weaboos' and 'Otaku' are people who don't fit in anywhere else and assign themselves those labels not for their shared interest but so they can gang up and be part of a group.

Also, I'm not enough of a prick to call people by their interests instead of treating them like a human being.
