When a pitcher deer becomes a mother, the honey bulbs on her head and chest bloom into flowers and act as a source of nutrients for her fawn. Pitcher deer require the extra source of nutrients they gain from insects, but a fawn's pitcher plant isn't capable of catching bugs until they get a little older, so the special flowers that bloom are substantial in getting nutrients.

Note: Since that's the the first thread in a while i'm going to accept the all the sketches, specially @Fnorkus one because the young creature which is the focus of the theme was enough complete.

I'm going to be lame and abstain, but I'll do what lovingthedark did in the other thread and throw out some feedback.

@Taragraphics - looks freaky cool! I like how all the colours and muscular parts suggest it is like a developing foetus. It does lack some symmetry around the rear of the body, such as the right side of its head and the back leg, which bugs me.

@JackDCurleo - this is another scary looking pic! Not sure what to suggest for this one, only that I think I'd go for a silhouette where the wings are fully wrapped around the body, and that the horns are separate from its left wing. Lame comment, sorry.

@HaveGum - I think Jess commented on how she liked its simplicity. But I'm not a fan, sorry :( The concept seems too close to a bear-puppy to me. I think it needs some extra details (even slight ones) to set it apart.

@Fnorkus - this looked really promising! There's a lot of freaky babies coming out in this topic. I like how you were going for irregular joints in the limbs to give it a broken appearance, but I think there should be similar joints and limb lengths on either side of the body (particularly the front limbs on the adult) so that the creature is symmetrical.

@ZaneZansorrow - looks charming! and unfinished ;) I reckon it needs more refinement on the details.

@Lintire - cool and disgusting idea. Choice of colours are interesting, as usual. The arm that they are coming out of does look like it is at an uncomfortable angle, though, and I'm not absolutely sure what the hand on our left is doing, or what fingers I'm looking at.

@Jojododo - Looks like the start of something very promising, another wrinkly new born baby! Possibly looks like it's about to fall on its face due to the large head.

@Cons14 - here's another good, cute painting! However I'll echo what Dark said about the lighting. If you're going for a misty lighting, it's likely that you won't have an absolute light source. If something is ambient lit it doesn't require much shading.

I'm being overly picky in a few of these reviews, because overall you guys did great and a fair few of these can be polished off further. I'll try to get something done for this week's thread that you can tear apart.
