Several years after the events of Pico's School, Pico has found himself out of a job and needing to pay the rent. As he is considered too much of a hiring risk for most jobs, the only job that accepted his application is the local bomb squad. It would seem that he gets his new job just in time to stop a mad bomber from leveling the whole town.

Pico's Bomb Squad will be a frustrating puzzle game based off of the code that runs QUAD:: and Strawberry Porn.

While the main puzzle takes place on the bottom half of the screen, the top half will depict the current situation with state sensitive animations. What happens on the bottom of the screen will influence the outcome of the top part of the screen. The goal is to defuse all bombs on the top half of the screen by solving the puzzles and challenges on the bottom half before the timer on one or more bombs runs out. Different outcomes will occur if some of the bombs are defused while others aren't. A perfect run will be the final goal where the real mad bomber will be revealed with one final difficult level. Clearing that will unlock an even harder mode.

Technical Challenges:

Coding - A more robust state variable system should be put in place for all objects for easier level design. An issue I ran into with QUAD:: was a limited set of states that would conflict with each other. Some assistance to avoid that would be great. The animations will be triggered depending on the state of certain objects.

Graphics/Animation - The characters should look like the Pico characters as they are currently represented on Newgrounds. The animations for failing to defuse a bomb should be full of gory, cartoony violence. For example, the training level involves Pico trying to save a simulated stick figure family. If you can't think of a funny way to massacre a stick figure, what are you even doing on NG? As far as states, there should be a default state, a failed state (the fun one), and a win state. As the game will require a few playthroughs, failing should be fun too.

Music/Sound Effects - The music should be short, loopable, and catchy. A second state where the music gets more intense as the time limit gets down to the wire would also be awesome. One or two songs should be more than enough. The sound effects should not be open source samples. Everyone has heard those already.

Writing - This is where it gets interesting! Imagine any crazy scenario and add bombs! What do the people do? Are they aware of what is happening or are they oblivious? As far as scenereos for game play, I have three scenereos lined up. One is the beginning training level, the second is the based off of the toilet bomb scene of Lethal Weapon 2 where you have to rescue Darnell from a toilet, and then the final level. Of course, all of this can be changed!

Voice Acting - Wouldn't it be cool to have some voice acting to distract the player while they are trying to solve puzzles? I think it would be funny.

Wow, I can't believe it! Fiiri has made two wonderful track in such a short time. This is already off to a great start!

An animator of any skill in Flash, and a more experienced AS3 programmer would be awesome to add to the project.
