I can recommend you a couple of books...anything by andrew loomis and george bridgman, you can use those your entire life. Maybe, christopher hart's book. Other than that, it takes practice :).

It's best if you start sketching first, then choose your colors, and then finish, here i will make a sketch with fig's, it might help

First fig, it isn't the best, i should add some work
Second fig, it's starting to look nice, all i need to do is clear the help for the picture and some color then it's done

Finally done! Look's a bit cartoonish, but that's what i was going for!
