In a sense, yes. There's lots of violence on TV. Not as much as there used to be, but there's one time in particular, when there's more violence than at other times. Not in the sense where the violence is seen, like in so many shows from the 1980's, but described. You know, the news?
Life can be violent. I think that TV is a reflection of life. At times, it's overdone, but it's not as bad as in the 1980's, when so many shows were violence, and nothing more. At least now, there's plot behind it (on prime time and sometimes in syndication).
By the way, I can't wait for that "24" show where the entire series plays out in real-time over one day, showing one hour each week for the season.

No not as much as the movies, but in the movies we PAY to watch at our own discretion. So the violence has been cut down to a minimum when played on television. I don't remember seeing anyone dying in the A-Team nor do I see anyone die a violent death on the TV shows today. The only graphic one are real home videos but Maximum Exposure is a really funny show to me. If it toos violent, they can always turn it off.

Violence on TV in no way reflects violence in real life. On TV it's glorified, popularized, and the pain and suffering that people go through is barely ever shown in its true form.
The problem with TV is not the excess violence - it's the unrealistic way in which it's portraid. I'd rather have my children watch a person really get shot and die (including all the blood gushing), than have them watch Fight Club or something unrealistic like that.

Violence in the news is high. But it's supposed to be. This is what I was talking about when I said that the violence on TV is a reflection of real life, because it is real life. I mean, sometimes, it's overdone, but it's real life. People die, people get shot, car wrecks happen, suicide bombings happen in the Middle East, terrorism, war, pestilence, famine... all this crap happens.

I agree.. but unfortunately, people like Condit and OJ get tons more coverage than the more important topics that you covered.

I saw the commercials for that show, it looks pretty interesting.
Besides that, I don't have much to say, since the only TV I really watch anymore is Simpsons, South PArk, and CSI. Oh and the occassion Quantum Leap episode when I can catch it.
Quote of the day: @Nysssa "What is the word I want to use here?" @freakapotimus "Taint".

There are some stories about war that Americans don't hear about on the news! Warzones so bad that the media cannot enter! It's disturbing the amount of war in the world...

True. Live pictures of everything that goes on in an urban combat zone. Pretty disturbing. We got to watch parts of it in boot camp to get us desensitized to that kind of shit. It was too real for the media to show but I'm sure they have footages. Those cameramen are pretty brave to be in that line of work if you ask me.
