This is a fact, we all know this. Still, it's been on for a long time and has churned out a mountain of jokes. I feel like even though the show is crap, when it's made so many jokes, statistically a few have to be good. That's what this thread is about, sifting through the crap that is family guy to find that golden turd. That one joke that makes you laugh your ass off.
For me, it's Gary Busey in the mirror.
So do you have one, or are you going to play the cool kid and pretend you don't?

Well, back when the whole Meg abuse thing was funny, alot of these scenes made me chuckle. Irrelevant comment, but I've always liked the time travel plots Family Guy has.

Love this one

It's still funny.
Last time I watched it I loved it.
But that was a long time ago.
Still love all of Family Guy, probably cause I don't sit there expecting to laugh 100% of the time or maybe because most of the things on inet/tv aren't funny anymore after many years on the internet, so everything just becomes a neutral story that you don't really have expectations for.
So when something funny DOES happen it only makes the show better, and when nothing funny happens I am left without a strong opinion.
Tick Tock

The new Christmas Special is actually pretty funny overall, in my opinion.
The inbred elves and shit.
Other than that I don't watch Family Guy much anymore so I can't give you a good, specific answer.

I like it, it's better than Squidbillies.

I thought you were talking about American Dad! where Roger the alien has literal gold turds.
For me, it would be without a doubt "Fatman and Robin". No cutaway gags, short, just jokes about one of the greatest people to ever live.

This is literally the best.
Did you know that on TVTropes (and probably in general) Family Guy is the most complained about franchise ever? Yeah, it deserves it.
I really do like the freaking FCC song. It's hilarioius.

Family Guy is the #1 show on Fox.
Besides Masterchef Junior, those kids are stellar.
The earlier seasons genuinely made me laugh, or maybe it's because I was young when I first watched them and they only make me laugh now because of nostalgia. Jokes in the new episodes won't make me laugh my ass off, but I have had a few chuckles.
-In the episode where Brian has to become an outside dog and he has to hunt for his own food, and he throws a spear in the ground and catches a fish.
-In the episode where Peter has to make a coach laugh so the Patriots can win a game, he tries to make the coach's son laugh but he can't get a chuckle out of him, then the coach plays with him and the kid goes "weeee! I love you dad!" in a deadpan voice.
-That clip where the suicide bomber is in Heaven awaiting his 72 virgins and he sees they're all nerds.
-That terrible accent that every middle eastern character has in Family Guy never fails to make me chuckle.
Peter: A boat's a boat, but a mystery box could be anything. It could even be a boat! You know how much we want one of those.
Lois: Then let's get the boa...
Peter: We'll take the mystery box.
Cut to car.
Lois: "We'll take the box."
Lois: You gave up a boat for free tickets to a crappy comedy club.
Peter: You're acting like this is the first time I've ever done something stupid. Remember the time we went to get that boat?
Then it replays the whole mystery box scene.
Still my favourite ever Family Guy moment, and only shitty youtube videos of it for our pleasure.

Case in point, prior to the second revival.
The current seasons does have some hits now and then but it is clear that the writers just stopped trying. The earlier seasons were much better and it has nothing with that stupid "you're getting old" cliche either.

Could anyone explain to me why it is so cool and edgy to hate on Family Guy?

After it was uncancelled the show basically became a shadow of what it was and tried to make the characters as awful as possible, not really realizing that they were taking away parts of what made it good and at times endearing. That and the writers used the show as an extreme leftist megaphone to voice they're opinions to everyone with all the subtlety of a fucking anvil dropping on your head
I'm not even gonna go into the whole vinny thing and the brenda q episode. Anyway despite the decreased quality the show is as popular as ever, and I feel like a large part of the original audience was really young when they first saw it and now a combination of maturity and the shows poorer quality has them kind of rebel against what they think it's become, or at least that's what I did
I've kinda mellowed out about the show now and I've heard that it's gotten a lot better, and the writers are trying to bring it back to what it used to be before all the characters became dicks, but I don't watch it, though I'll admit I've watched some of the older episodes if they've come on, which I never would've done when I was all pissed off about it

I blocked that Vinny shit from my head and removed that from memory. That was bad. I dont particularly catch up on new episodes and was unaware of Vinny's introduction and Brian's death for awhile. Me not being that tuned in to the series is probably why i still like the show.
While I do agree with you on a lot of those points, I do disagree with the characters and how they evolved and interact with eachother.
Things like, say, Quagmire's beef with Brian, that kind of brought more depth into the show, I can't think of any other examples though.
Seth Mcfarlane is kind of sell out. I think the big decline started when tried out the Cleveland Show.
Also I agree with the leftist megaphone bit, that waas pretty spot-on.

Also, when Peter takes over Pewterschmidt Industries and loses it at the end. He still got to keep the corporate jet. YEAH!
Peter jumps into the air, and the episode ends on a freeze frame...no, wait. Uh oh...
Feel no mercy for me. It will only cause you to suffer as well.
I can't remember what episode it was from but that scene in Family Guy where Peter is just randomly going to fly a rocket into space and Lois just screams at him and points how stupid, random, destructive, and aimless all of his stunts are, and then Peter does it anyway and his space trip works out perfectly and Lois just says "You got lucky".

That scene made me laugh. Other than that, the show is bad. The original episodes were so much better, and it's obvious the writers just don't give a shit anymore.
The best episode in recent memory was the thanksgiving special where Joe's son came back. It was the only time in a lot of years that a political issue has been adressed as anything other than "Hi, I'm Seth MacFarlane, listen to my opinion."
I alsop used to like the episode where Brian and Stewie get locked in the bank vault but the more I see it the more self indulgent it seems. Also, it feels like it comes up in the adult swim rotation more often than it should. Does anyone else notice that?
