Broke a LED TV 2014-11-21 08:58:06

A few months ago I bought a new 39" LED TV, after a heart-breaking accident the top of the screen has a small crack in it. The TV works and the picture is still clear but the area where it's cracked is pretty screwed. After tons of research I come to the conclusion that I am absolutely fucked and need to buy a new TV

I'm not planning on buying a new TV anytime soon as I am broke considering I spent about 370 on that TV

As I said, I know I'm completely fucked but I thought I ask Newgrounds what I should do, should I sell the parts? Should I attempt at repairing the screen?

halp plz

Yes, if someone's willing to give you money for some of the parts then you should take them up on their offer.

Should I attempt at repairing the screen?

If you think you can do it then give it a shot, if it doesn't work then sell it for parts like you said before.

Resize the resolution, hide the crack and sell it as a whole one. Use the money to buy a new TV.

It's probably screwed, but post pics anyway. I can take a look. I need two pics: one with the TV turned on; one with it off.

So you're broke and you broke the unbroken broken LED TV that still is unbroken after you broke it?

If it was bought that recently, is there no way to get that money back? Claiming the product was faulty when you bought it? Insurance? You could probably sell too considering it still works.

Option 2: how about calibrating the screen so that the image shows in the center of the screen, with the cracked part outside the visual focus. If that's possible.

Because that's a lot more work than just buying a new TV.

Did you try to shut down the "crack.exe" program from the Task Manager? The crack should disappear afterwards

That's what you get for buying an LED TV. Get a CRT TV.

TV turned on, the entire picture is a bit messed up. Sometimes it's okay and sometimes it's bad, what this depends on I have no idea

It's the TV's way of telling you the cellophane isn't a permanent feature.

I don't have insurance, the warranty will not cover this damage so the only option I've left is to fight to the death for the best TV price

Actually I liked the idea of downsizing the resolution however I think the distortion of the picture will make it impossible anyway

That doesn't look too good as far as repair goes. :/ How about compensation alternatives though?

The only compensation I can get from that TV is to sell some of it's parts that maybe someone might actually need and is willing to pay for them.

As I said, I already accepted the fact that I am quite boned in this situation but I'm glad I got some interesting responses (better than google amirite?)

This is why we shouldn't've moved away from CRT TVs.
