I wish at least people would put EFFORT into their idling games. I've seen games that are literally just a few buttons and textboxes. They disgust me.

thats like saying i have bioshock infinite and i got bored so it went into a mode and it progressed through the game for me

There is only two viable reasons why idle games exist, they are good for killing time and they allow you to play again simply by clicking onto it. Of course, this tends to be a breeding ground of microtransactions {which everyone seems to hate} despite the fact that you can most likely play the game without even spending a dime on it.

Basically, because they are easy to code, produce and play, these are the kind of games that people seem to like, especially among the non-gaming crowd who need to kill some time. Needless to say, there are glut of these games on mobile devices and on Facebook, which is why most hardcore gamers cry foul every time one of them gets popular, despite the fact that they weren't necessarily targeting them in the first place.
