Very important question 2014-11-14 13:01:13

What do you guys do when you're on your way to somewhere in public transportation or when you're waiting?

Like, when you're in the train going somewhere, or you're waiting in the waiting room for the dentist, what do you do to kill boredom?

I don't live in the city, so I don't have to do much waiting for anything.

I've taken to listening to music, but before I had an MP3 player I just relaxed and looked around. For some reason I'm pretty much immune to boredom now.

If I offer to help you in a post, PM me to get it. I often forget to revisit threads.

When I took public transportation daily I usually just listened to music and indulge in thought. If I actually manage to find a seat then I'd play games on my phone or draw. Or go online if there was a signal.

Reading a book can help pass the time.

My life is extremely busy, so when I find myself waiting for something out in public (a bus, appointment, line at the grocery store) I usually just relax and enjoy it. No activities, no thinking about things - just sitting still with a clear mind. It's a nice rare moment of respite from daily toil. I actually used to meditate pretty often, so I guess in a sense that's my meditation time now. Weird now that I think about it.

Just wait it out patiently while trying to avoid interactions with undesirables. Patience is a virtue and all that.

Should an undesirable choose to interact or otherwise become too much of a nuisance and require interaction, limit interaction to the minimal necessary and be civil unless things escalate.

Should things escalate, handle things on a case-by-case basis. I'm pretty good at quick thinking, but obviously that sort of thing is very situational-specific. Take advantage of any unique environmental factors or psychological factors.

I listen to music, read, do a puzzle.

Sometimes I allow myself to be bored, it feels good.

Usually read a book if I have one with me. And one time I licked my lips annoyingly like the Joker and a guy got up to sit away from me and was frowning all the time. People are so impolite nowadays.

Response to Very important question 2014-11-15 18:22:26

I wish there was public transportation in my area, I would be able to read instead of doing this retarded steering shit.

I usually listen to music, or play solitaire or browse the internet on my phone.
