Writing Tips

Would any writers (particular fantasy by any kind is acceptable) be able to give me some tips on write a long and detail storyline/lore-type thing, containing races, classes/magic, lots of characters, places, realms, artefacts etc. that can all link together in an interesting history/timeline that can be dragged onwards possibly forever, or at least a very long time.

I particular link the World of Warcraft and Guild Wars stories and would be very interested in creating something similar.

Things I Need Help With:
- Characters and Character Development
- Timeline
- Linking Between Events and Characters
- Creating An Interesting Story
- Use of Artefacts throughout the story.

The only thing i can think that would help you out is just plan everything carefully and take your time developing your story.
You could also ask for some tips on the Writer's Guild of Newgrounds.
