Probably the most interesting piece of work ever created… by a 6th grader.
Bio-Apocalypse by Stephen Sutton, is a genuinely intelligent, science-fiction short story with an interesting take on science vs. religion, the morality of god, and the ethics of scientific progress.
Synopsis (without being too spoilery): In the 23rd century, Earth based scientists have created a “super-organism”, that upon being released, fuses every living thing on Earth to its own being. The rest of humanity resides on the Moon, where society is dichotomized by an atheist/agnostic scientific community and religious zealots. Throughout the story, both factions actively compete and engage in conflicts over whose campaigns will finally rid of the organism.
