Oh this is perfect! On the Thursday October 16th show at the Double Wide in Deep Ellum, I attended a show that I designed the flier for. After the concert, they were holding their weekly Thursday night karaoke event...I had enough drinks in me that I finally got the nerve to do karaoke for the first time ever.
I went with Van Halen's Hot For Teacher, and I thought I could hit it high pitch enough to replicate David Lee Roth, but my voice couldn't really do it, those falsetto notes were coming out flat for the first bit after the spoken word.
"Oh wow man...what do you think the teacher's gonna look like this year? OOWOAH" y'know?
Well...it was a metal show. I was screaming lyrics during the concert before so my voice was raspy...and it gave it enough grit that I managed to pull off a kind of an accentuated Lemmy voice. I was changing the pitch and nailing every single note, I got huge compliments, I was rocking a Van Halen song as if it was played by Motorhead and I felt really fantastic about it.
I can't wait to do it again...with a less raspy voice, but man, I adapted real quick and made it my own because of the monitors.
