I'm wondering, because I'm very used to a lively forum with posts coming in basically every 30 seconds, and here in Newgrounds it doesn't seem to be as active as that. Does anyone who forums here regularly maybe have an idea as to how active it is?

Depends on which one you post in, the General Forum usually has more posts (every 30 minutes on a slow day and every couple of minutes on a busy day).
It also depends on timezones.
At least this is what i've seen.

Okay. It's just that it takes like 5 or 10 minutes for someone to reply to my post or the thread.

How long do you estimate it normally takes for a response on other forums, like the Animation one if you've been there.

General is the most active, but overall the forums are pretty dead compared to how they used to be.
There's a little stat section just below the nav bar. Used to be well over 1,300 users a day making thousands of posts. But that's been steadily dropping. Now it's around the 250 mark with barley 1,000 posts. The lowest I've see (on a day where there weren't any site issues) was 236 users. But I have a feeling that will drop even lower.
There's been talk about ways to increase traffic but nothing seems to be working. It doesn't help that some of the remaining and most regular posters are also some of the worst. The users that are 'do-er's' have moved on to other sites and all that's left here are the lazy, non-contributors who have the attitude of 'Yeah, make it better. Bring in more traffic. I'll just kick back, watch, then complain about how much it sucks.'
We need more do-er's.

Maybe one hour, i guess.
My experience is that the more you have to scroll down to get to a specific forum the longer it will take for someone to post in it.

Just search for traffic, increase, promote, etc. to find more.

The forum activity here moves at a pretty leisurely pace, it's a an oasis of calm, with spontaneous streams of contemplative communication far from the raging stress of the outside world. :P Kinda.
General is definitely the most active place. If things haven't changed lately it's usually most active in the afternoon EST. Response times vary greatly depending on topic and time, and on any other forum than General it's usually a matter of hours rather than minutes.The Chat was a good option back when it existed though, way faster conversation speeds for those who wanted that...

As active as you make it. Some users are very dedicated, but others are on and off.

I know Adult Swim's forums used to easily get that..
I remember sombody saying a few years ago that newgrounds had a really active fourm compared to other ones. Times seem to have changed.
