With Halloween coming up, thought I'd start a thread where everyone talks about their favourite horror movies and If theres one that you'll watch this year for Halloween?

Mine are-

John Carpenters the Thing

Alien

Shaun of the dead (ok i cheated on that one thats a comedy)

Re-animator

Hellraiser

The Texas Chainsaw massacre

The Shinning

and The fly (Jeff Goldblum version)

The Thing and Re animator are my top two picks so I might watch them on the day

the Friday the 13 movies before part 7

Part 7 had the best Jason, and you can't just ignore Jason Takes Manhatten, step up your list

he did look badass in that movie. I just hate the stupid telekinesis subplot. Manhattan was pretty cool but they should have just stopped at part 6

Anything with Freddy Krueger and Jason Vorhees.

As well as the Child's Play series.

I don't watch a lot of movies, so it's pretty typical stuff. A lot of my favourite horror films are silent though so maybe it'll be a fresh list to those that aren't normally into that sort of thing. So yeah top 10 or whatever I guess.

Frankenstein (1910)
Genuine (1920)
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920)
The Phantom Carriage (1921)
Nosferatu (1922)
Haxan (1922)
The Mummy (1932)
Night of the Living Dead (1968)
Dawn of the Dead (1978)
The Shining (1980)

Child's Play is definitely a favorite of mine. No other horror movie even approaches the entertainment value.

Yeah 7 was silly plotwise, it was basically FireStarter but with jason. I would have probably enjoyed it more if it didn't have the whole supernatural abilities.

same here. part 9 was the worst of them all (jasonx doesn't deserve to be counted in the franchise). the only thing good about that piece of crap was Jason's design which would have peen perfect if he had the chain around his neck

A lot of people will disagree with me on this as a lot of people just see is as torture porn gone to the extreme, which in some ways is true but i feel that it's a lot more important than that and has a much higher artistic value than your average torture shit you normally find. It's extremely well made even if it is extremely disturbing at points. A Serbian Film.
My fav film of all time is A Clockwork Orange coz it's the first movie where I realised I wanted to be a filmmaker but I'd definitely include A Serbian Film up there with my favourite horrors. Ichi The Killer is also a close second for my fav film of all time lol. Takashi Miike is just a complete fucking nutjob. I love him lmao

The Underworld franchise is a good one.

But if you're going to watch just 1 horror movie on Halloween, go with the Evil Dead remake, since it's more serious and darker then the original.

Is that even considered a "horror movie"? I have like 4 copies of it (don't ask....) and never really considered it part of that genre.

The Thing (The John Carpenter one)
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (The Original one)
Dawn of the dead
and last but not least: Tetsuo: The Iron Man.

It is such a colorful and brilliant movie. Has a charm to it.
The musical numbers are pretty good, too.
