Not really the reason people like those games at all. The real reason is because they often require much thinking things out, strategy, and so forth. The game of Chess can be thought of as a turn-based RPG of sorts if you like (minus any storylines), played between two people.
There's a reason smart people tend to like turn-based strategy games.
If someone was lonely they'd go do a social activity rather than a solitary one. Turn-based RPGs are mostly single-player, so someone that is playing one wants to be playing one *instead of* doing other things.
I kinda dont agree. turn based rpg games like Final Fantasy games is very easy in terms of rules.

What you mean is strategy games where its mostly gameplay, those usually takes time in thinking etc, i have noticed that most turn based RPG rely too much on story, which is not a bad thing though, but just saying.
