It doesn't matter if i have the most advanced phone, as long as it can make calls, has a poker game and a social media platform i'm okay with it, i never even had a new phone, i usually just get my sister's old phone because she buys a new one. I know what you mean with kids wanting their own computers, most kids i know want the same thing, i have to share a laptop with sister and i'm perfectly fine with that. And don't get me started with 16-17 year olds having cars, there are a bunch of them who already have cars and they don't even have a driver's license, they just have a car to look cool, when their parents give them enough money for a license they're gonna throw the old car/motorcycle away and buy a new car.

Back in my day you rode the bus to school or you walked. You didn't get your own computer and were lucky if you could use a family computer. You had no cell phone at all.

I have to walk to school, the bus is too expensive and i don't like riding them, sometimes if i'm lucky i can have a few euros and i might be able to ride the subway.

And of course nowadays people are so picky that all their games and movies have to have these amazing graphics or most of them (unless they're from older generations) won't even give them a second look. Whatever happened to playing games for the gameplay or watching movies for the plot? Recently they're all very "Entertain me! Entertain me now!" with attention spans approximately that of a butterfly.

Yeah movies and games have turned into a game of "Who can use the best CGI?" instead of "Who has the best story?". But a lot of people these days don't care only for the visuals, me and a few guys from my school enjoy good old fashioned movies fom the 70's and 80's, hell, i even like the original Planet of the Apes movies more than i like these new ones, my favourite movie of all time has no CGI and my favourite game has PS2 graphics (even though the PS2 isn't old you can see the visuals are slightly outdated).

Also I notice that more and more people are really bad losers nowadays. Whereas in the past you would accept your losses and try to do better for next time, nowadays people are so coddled or else cheat or in some other ways try to hide their losses instead of just owning up to them.

I can't really talk about this because i myself am a bit of a sore loser.

And there are a number of people who spend large amounts of money while claiming "that isn't much money". ... Actually yes it is -- you're just spoiled. For example if you're buying a new game every week or new computer equipment all the time, and you don't think that's "much money", you're spoiled. I don't care if you're making enough money it isn't a problem for you -- you're still spoiled if you don't think that's "much money".

I agree, 14-15 year old kids are spending 20-30€ a day by just going out with their friends, most of them get money from their parents everyday, half the guys in my class had GTA V and a PS4 about 1 week after they were released, a 14 year old girl i know had a fucking stable with ponies or horses or some shit, they're all just spoiled brats, when their parents die they'll have no money left.

I found this part to be interesting and it's probably a difference between the US and Europe but in the US there are school buses (this is separate from public transit buses) and they pick up kids to take them to school. You don't pay anything for it. (Technically taxes pay for it).

You were typically treated to mean bus drivers who hate kids but who for some reason have that as their job anyway. Go figure. Basically the school bus driver from South Park would be pretty typical.

Also, agree with everything else you wrote there but just thought I'd point out this potential US/Europe bus difference.

but how the hell is riding the bus to school an insult? My area (the four corners) is extremely rural. a lot of people live 5 miles away from the town out in the hills or farmland and it'd be a 1~2 hour walk to school. Nobody should have to walk more than a mile to get somewhere.

While we're at it, everyone should have access to a computer, or a phone. This isn't the 18th century or anything, it's the 3rd Millennium and the world relies on technology.

And most importantly, how old you are doesn't matter, nor your year of birth. What matters is how you as a person behave. I'm in my 20s and I'm probably a lot more immature than most of the gen-z teens on this site.

I never said riding the bus was an insult. Rather, if you're driving your own car to high school (rather than riding the bus), you're spoiled.

I never said people shouldn't have access to computers -- just that kids shouldn't expect their own -- there's always school computers or library computers. You're lucky if you get to use a family computer -- shouldn't expect your own if you're just a kid.

Never said people shouldn't have access to phones either for that matter. Just that they shouldn't be picky on having cell phones when it's not strictly necessary since they can always use home phones, office phones, etc... if they really need to make a call.

And how old you are doesn't matter. I already said there have been spoiled people from every generation. It's just now there seem to be a whole lot more of them is all. Averages. Parents that just give their kids everything.

I agree the best kind of person is made when they are expected to work for their things and they learn the true value of the things they own.
Many kids have things handed to them and don't develop a good work ethic or figure out how to save money or even value their things. Why take care of that phone when you'll get the updated version within the year?

It could have always been this way, I don't know. But I do see a lot of the things you brought up. The most annoying thing to me is the attention spans of some children. It is completely ridiculous. I have had instances where a child would ask to play something and not three minutes later they are back asking to play with something different. And then again. I know kids have amped up energy anyway but the ones like that are just so unfocused and scattered it stresses me out just being around them.

A lot of our tech is all about instant gratification. I think too much of it at younger ages is an awful thing.

Ugh. I find it so obnoxious when people act like bad things don't matter unless they're "bad enough". Suffering/pain/unhappiness/stress are all things that happen to everyone and it is legitimate for everyone regardless of whether someone else went through something "harder" or not.

The sig that I'm wearin? Awesomely made by Skaren!
Also, I like annoying Americans by calling English football "real football" and American football "rugby".-Lost-Chances

Nail on the head. I've pretty much work to pay for my phone and such every month. Makes me more grateful for what I do get.

You're overgeneralizing. In my experiences, I have never meet or overhear someone whine about stuff like that. What makes you think people do that?

Back in my day you rode the bus to school or you walked. You didn't get your own computer and were lucky if you could use a family computer. You had no cell phone at all.

But keep in mind that we are no longer in "your day." Things change, hate to sound like a prick, but changes are what make our society progress.

Yeah, I guess.

I don't know what made think that people weren't always sore losers, lol.

I don't think you have a good grasp of the word "spoiled" haa.

'Spoiled' depends on what 'world' you're in lol

1st world spoiled - everything handed to them, dont have to do much chores, $100 / week allowance, cars bought for them, etc

3rd world spoiled - clean water food good shelter - in which case this is a good thing.

4rd world spoiled (as in like primitive tribes) not being killed by rival tribes and not dying in agonizing pain from parasites, and not getting cannibalized lol

But if you're spoiled that doesnt make you a bad person unless you become a brat because of it - like that elliot rodger guy did.

Well that's sort of the point though. I've already said it's not de-facto spoiled to have nice things per-se but the attitude that often comes along with that. (i.e. the spoiled brat attitude)

For example the attitude of expecting everyone to be able to afford the same things you can would be a spoiled brat attitude as would constantly expecting nice things (especially if you didn't work for them), etc...

And I find there seems to be a lot more of that than in the past is all.
