You know those salt crystal lamp rock things that are supposed to purify the air and shit? Well so like those are made of halite? And halite is supposed to be good for us to eat? And the lamps say to keep out of reach of small children and pets. So if they say that how can it be that they are safe to eat that halite is safe? I licked it and it's yummy so I hope it's not bad for me. Someone said their cockatiel was tasting it. I hope his is okay. Mine never tried it but I did. Am I be okaY ?

Sodium Chloride, NaCl aka table salt. Despite being assumed safe by many people who grow up douaing their food with the conpound, it is terrible for you in large quantities. Table salt related sodium exposure is a leading cause of preventable illness in the first world.
Just an 02er.

Halite is not a very hard mineral and if it falls and chips, small children and pets are liable to choke on said halite chips.

I know someone who died from consuming too much Dihydrogen Monoxide. I think something as scary sounding as halite might cause the same effects.
I am hilarious and you will quote everything I say.

Has anyone in this thread ever come close to drowning in the ocean?

I was once swallowed whole by a shark. My sunscreen gave the shark a stomach ache however, and he vomited me back out.

Surely the warning is there because it's fragile and contains glass and AC electricity.
But maybe some animals would lick it enough to become dehydrated.

Well, you're supposed to keep chocolate away from small children and pets and chocolate is delicious, so it probably has to do more about the fact that they can't process the ingredients yet, if at all.
I'd rather die a Wolf fighting against the Herder, than die a Sheep heading for the slaughter.

It's "Himalayan rock salt," or, in other words, pink halite. NaCl with minerals.
And yes, it's fine to eat.
I have a bag full of a ton of chunks (like a 1/4 pound) maybe between 1/2-3" wide that I bought in California for like $2 a few weeks ago, and I just nibble off little chunks of it every day because I just love eating salt chunks like candy.
In fact, I'm going to go nibble off a chunk right now before I go to bed.
So yeah, from personal (daily) experience, it's fine to ingest.
